so apparently you can steal a hideout
" True. I would not care either about any crappy looking HO that may get copied, including my own. This copy thingy is a big concern for people that compete for these HO showcases to make a name for it. If i would be worried about anyone copying my HO i would do trades in town instead of my HO. If someone spends some hundreds of hours perfecting their hideout and end up with something quite unique and pretty - if this gets copy spammed it becomes common. Others can then start boasting on how they made a cool hideout and get credit for that work.
I can see how this can piss people off. Did you try turning it off and on again?

As mentioned, copying is not theft.
Next, "the greatest form of flattery is imitation." The only reason I could see this being a problem is if there's like, some streamer or something making money off showing these designs off while claiming them to be original. Dunno if anyone's actually doing that though. Украина в моём сердце

" " As I have already explained in this thread, 'claiming credit for making a hideout' is WORTHLESS because you can't win a HO competition with a stolen hideout. It's incredibly easy for GGG to check the pedigree of where a hideout was sourced, and it's even easier for you to prove that you've had your Hideout for longer because the save file has a timestamp on it. So even if you ARE one of the people regularly entering HO contests, some rando claiming they made your hideout can't get them anything and can't cost you anything. No remotely mature and rational person would actually care about this, and I say this as a person who has, on NUMEROUS occasions, invited people to my HO for trades who then invited other people from their friends list to come take a look at it. In Bestiary I spent a couple days building a giant maze out of the old Catarina hideout which was particularly popular; I once exited a map to find a dozen people in my HO that I was not partied up with and hadn't seen before. It's entirely possible one of you has even seen a hideout I made over the years, without knowing it was mine. Guess how much this has affected or impacted me? |

so the bad news is that, as i suspected, the majority of people cant make hideouts for shit so this benefits them and they will agree with it
the good news is that since they arent really contributing, the only thing that needs to be done is to inform actual hideout creators and they will just stop the supply the bad news is that no one visits this shitty forum and no one will actually get informed i have a question. does ggg ever reply to anything here? i mean this is a feedback forum, there should also be ggg members who reply here, no? |

They reply occasionally. Doubt they would for this though. It's usually to clarify things or to point out when a suggestion is already in the pipeline.
I suppose if you really want to claim "ownership" of a hideout design you could make an NFT for it, hehe. Украина в моём сердце

" See, even mentioning that one can see how this can piss people off, can piss people off, even if they are super mature and rational. Did you try turning it off and on again?

" I think it's more accurate to say that most people aren't willing to put the time into making a really nice Hideout. Ability really doesn't come into it in most cases; the reason I got super into hideout design in the first place was because I was bored with the current league (whichever it was at the time, might have been Prophecy?) and enjoyed time I spent on my hideout more than I enjoyed an equal amount of time spent mapping. That's just how I'm wired, but it's absurd to think that everyone else does or should enjoy the same things as me. PoE is a game, not a job; people are usually going to do whatever they find fun. The vast majority of players probably wouldn't get much entertainment out of spending 10+ hours on a hideout, and that's fine. They're more than welcome to any HO I've ever made, if they can't find something that they like even better at the Community Showcase website and end up in my HO for whatever reason. As for "informing the hideout creators..." we already know, and we don't mind. As I have explained in painstakingly simplistic terms more than once already, copying a hideout doesn't have any affect whatsoever on the original hideout creator. DerroK and Trempler have no idea how many people are currently using one of their Hideouts (probably tens of thousands, those guys are legends and anyone who wants to get into HO making should check them out, each of their creations is like a Master Class in spatial design), because they don't GET anything when their hideout template is downloaded or copied. It's just a hobby for them; something they enjoy doing that they happen to be very, very good at. You really think they're going to care at all if some 12 year old on the other side of the world copies their design, shows it to his buddy, and says 'I made this?' I have to ask, though, since you apparently don't like this forum or hold it in high regard: why are you on your second new account in under a week, made for the sole purpose of posting here? Genuinely curious. Last edited by ARealLifeCaribbeanPirate#2605 on Jan 22, 2022, 5:24:14 PM

" i already explained that hideout creators that post on hideoutshowcase/youtube already get the needed ego boost by people copying it. the ego boost only needs this to happen, someone has to like something you made. if you upload the hideout and someone copies it, he gave you the needed ego boost by doing that because you willingly take the boost through people downloading what you created. the ones that dont upload dont get this ego boost as they know in their head that they didnt give permission and something was "taken" from them in a way. [Removed by Support] now this is an extreme example indeed and stealing a hideout is nowhere near that, but it should explain well how choice matters a lot and how both types of creators have the ego boost needed, but get it in different ways do note that i acknowledge that you, as a hideout creator, have more right to talk about this than a random person who doesnt make them, especially if you are in the 2nd group and dont upload to sites, as this predominantly affects them. your opinion is...unexpected i must admit, i admire your level of altruism although i dont share it for the last thing you asked, well. while you understand i will ofc deny that this is a multi account made because the other one was banned, i can answer the question somewhat. yes this forum is shit. but its not shit due to people, people are just fine. what makes this forum shit is the ggg "support", you know, the same people that dont do anything to fix problems but will shut you up in 5 seconds flat if you say a bad word. and why am i here, well pretty much only to inform people that this exists cause i think many didnt know and many wont like it. ive played poe for years and i really like the people i met in this game, actually apart from creating hideouts its the only thing i like about the game. the game itself is boring af and now that i dont need to grind the rep, i will literally never open a single map ever again oh and, you might ask why im mad about this issue, so lemme answer that up front. i like original things and im quite good at creating hideouts so i generally make a hideout and gift it to someone, but never more than 1 person per hideout, so everyone can be original! and until this is resolved, im not sharing a single one and the only hideout people can see now is the seizure causing eye cancer i created because ggg cant fix graphic bugs, and apparently people like using it to blind others Last edited by Lisa_GGG#0000 on Jan 22, 2022, 6:53:33 PM

" i think lots of people are quite happy for other people to have crazy coloured hair and can find it attractive. youve got some really weird takes on things you seem to think are just universal truths, but are actually just your strange take. ive made tons of hideouts. i did it because i like my hideout to look nice, i dont upload them for others to download because i didnt make it for an ego boost or for anyone else to look at it, its for me to have a nice surrounding to play in. i dont care at all if anyone who comes to my hideout copies it. so this idea that it boils down to people who make hideouts for an ego boost and people who think its stealing just isnt the case, thats just your weird take and your inability to see that the way you look at the world not only isnt universal but is unusual. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
