I mean, it's certainly not up to ME, but I'll ask.

Jokes aside though, you can't win a Hideout competition by entering a stolen Hideout, because GGG actually checks the pedigree of their winners and it's pretty easy to find out if someone made it themselves or imported it from a text file. Especially given that every single entrant I've ever seen was publicly posted and shared WELL in advance of the contest, and most of those threads/videos include footage of the hideout under construction. So Silent's chief complaint is about something that not only isn't happening, but CAN'T happen.

Now, on the subject of "buying" hideouts: this is RMT. As in, it's something which is explicitly forbidden and bannable for both the buyer and seller. If someone really wants to copy my hideout so they can get banned later for selling it... they can go right ahead. In fact, I would spend even more time than I already do on my hideouts if I thought this were actually a thing which was happening. But it's not.

So, to return to where we started...

Copying a Hideout is "taking" something with zero value because you can't win contests with it and you aren't allowed to sell it. In other words,

but its not zero value, sometimes something has personal value and you dont wanna share!

for example i have a friend named brad. brad has a huge dick that he sometimes uses as a mouse pad. so i took a pic of it and recreated it in the hideout. so if you join the hideout, you can see brad's dick. but if you copy it, you own brad's dick! only i can own brad's dick. not because im gay, which im not. but because this is about trust. trust brad had in me when he let me take pic of his dick. i said no homo so its okay dont worry but what happens if someone like mathil or cutedog gets that hideout and i let brad down because i can say no homo only for myself but not for cutedog or god forbid, mathil. this is a privacy breach!

i mean its not because brad started onlyfans and im helping him by sharing the hideout, but imagine the privacy issues! what would hunter biden say?

It would be fine if it were optional, as several people stated they have personal reasons(some jokes) some not joking, Some are artists and would like the choice on how to distribute this work(usually for everyones use anyway) but that doesnt mean you should be able to take it.

Personally the hideout im using is a private creation cateloguing all of my travels since i started playing POE with all of my trophys and rooms dedicated to each league i invested in, I don't want people to have that tbh, would i flip out if someone had it? maybe not but i do recognize that while i might not care plenty of other people will many of which put even more time into their hideout than me.

Also take into account the methods of acquisition here, Not only do you have to do a lot of decorating if you're making ur own hideout but you had to farm points to buy everything(i did) and then you have to actually have that hideout which could mean literally thousands of maps if you want to get it without buying it or GGG gold for the cash shop ones.. After investing so much into even getting the hideout this is also a contributing reason why some people might more highly value their creations and want to keep them private.

if you cant see from any of the perspectives arguing against this then i ask what weight your opinion holds in the first place? (i'm not saying it doesnt hold weight, im asking you if it does) and would you respect the opinion of someone who ignores an entire side of the conversation or is unable to see it? i find it unlikely.
