" No I don't want Poe to turn into a MMO so there's no more Poe. I want a Poe MMO. You can have both. Nothing would be taken away from you. Why can't people get this? More is more for everybody. "But they would have to divert resources into the MMO and that would make the basic Poe game suffer because...." IT'S A HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION where money is NO ISSUE. ** slaps forehead so hard the windows break ** Last edited by OneTwoTimer#6001 on Jan 22, 2022, 9:14:53 AM

" Its easier to send a man into space then to make a decent MMO, even IF money is not an issue. (Look at New World for reference). The only reason PoE works is because its on 3 months cycle. There would have to be so many changes for it to become MMO that it would no longer be PoE. Lost Ark is somewhat what you are asking for. |

If you were Microsoft and had just purchase BA, why would you then want to purchase GGG?
Others have already spelled it out but when it comes to the business world a lot of people think with their heart and not with their wallet. For any business consideration you should position yourself as the owner. It's your business, you pay the bills and you gain the profit for your risk. MS purchased BA because on balance it was a good business decision. They acquired an undervalued resource with good IP and revenue streams that would benefit from their management. It synergises well with their other products and it denies their competitors from adding it to their stable. As for GGG - or let's call it PoE because they're really purchasing the game here - from a business perspective you have an aging property with fundamental weaknesses in it's core systems that make improvements costly and challenging and if you looked at the books recently, you'd see a weakened position in revenue. That's not to say the game can't make money, it absolutely can, but in the big scheme of things it's just not a compelling purchase. Besides, Tencent aren't giving up their property unless the CCP passes some new edict that makes it forbidden to play the game anymore and that seems unlikely. |
