Microsoft bought Blizzard...GGG next?

No wonder people are quitting. That and the lawsuits. Bet M$ got a pretty good price for it.

Should delay D4 by at least another year.

Was like 70 billion USD.

And all that just to get Candy Crush...........
Hope Bill Gates can save the world... of Warcraft
Smart business. ActiBlizz's price plummeted due to its internal scandal, and the value of IP's associated with it will recover once there's some cleaning (or pretense of) done. The whole thing will pay for itself within few years at most.

Honestly it was only a matter of who will grab it. Most likely, Tencent was also making a bid.

better MS than Tencent, but it's not like anything will change with Blizzard, MS will probably keep all the same devs and hire new ones based on anything but talent. At least CoD might return to Steam now

Yee, and I can not see them letting go either.
Why would they.
Blizzard alone has lots of IP's, some of them may get a reignition in quality if stars align (Warcraft & Diablo series) and they kick out Kotick as a start.

GGG on the other hand has only one product which would cannibalize Diablo series.
So i dont think so.

MS wants to starve Sony to death. Who will be next? EA? Ubi?

EA could easily be next, in fact their stock rose 3% today solely on this exact expectation.

However I think "starving" Sony doesn't really add up. It's not like Blizz or Activision titles would be exclusive, nor does this close the console sold gap in the near term. PS5 is obliterating Xbox.

Maybe this is a real long game, like 20 years or something, but Sony fanboys don't need to clutch any pearls.

You don't think Blizzard would have enough content, IP and opportunity to occupy MS for a few years?

Probably not great news for other games companies, however. Microsoft have more patience than most, and far resources at least until maybe Apple want in to the sector.

Sadly, the rot at Blizzard is inside. Having a patient parent company won't make much difference.
