Microsoft bought Blizzard...GGG next?
The Blizzard of the 90's early 2000 is dead and gone. Also Microsoft is really bad at publishing and monetizing games.
I hope they will re-ignite HotS. |

" hope they dont that game sucks. the gameplay in hots is an oxymoron -- a casual moba except moba by its very nature is highly competitive. it was never going to work out. only redeeming part about hots was the interesting artstyle/graphics but thats about it |

" Ah, gatekeeping an entire genre I see. Nope, no way you can have a CASUAL moba, it either has to be an exact clone of LoL or dota or I demand it can't even be made! What a ridiculous stance to take. You don't have to like the game, but actively hoping it doesn't get re-ignited is just childish. |

Hopefully they put more effort into SC2.
We tested it extensively

Tencent isn't going to sell GGG. They bought them to have full control of PoE in China, it's not just some loose asset they picked up to flip later. There is no realistic deal MS could offer them to make a sale worthwhile for both sides. Then again with China going on a rampage against gaming lately Tencent might be bailing.
" The transfer probably isn't going to happen until after D4 is out. Current expected release of D4 is early 2023, the MS deal doesn't finalize until later 2023. " It almost paid for itself within a few hours. MS paid the equivalent of $95 per share, the stock prices were in the dumpster at that point at $65 per share. Within hours of the news breaking Activision stock had jumped up to $86 per share. |

" nah it was put on life support for a reason the fact of the matter is, mobas inherently require real-time minmaxing on several different levels in order to even play out the way the games were intended to. hots attempted to dumb this down and the gameplay loop was completely illegible and made little sense from the player experience perspective the entire early and mid game in hots is absolutely worthless. the interior bases of both teams is far too strong to end the game at these points in the game, and thus even the most 1 side games go to late game. but at the same time the team getting ass-banged all game can randomly catch 1 person late game and actually end the game solely off of that alone. this creates an environment where everyone fucks around for the first 15 minutes because nothing of consequence matters, and then you get a couple minutes of late game gameplay that ultimately decides the game. its a flawed design for gamelow |

With Microsoft owning Bethesda, ActiBlizz, its own extensive studios and perhaps even EA soon maybe, it could easily become the biggest gaming company on the planet if they manage to actually spin all those companies multi-billion dollar IP's into successful new games. It would need to score wins with most of them though, just one or two successes wouldn't be enough. If they buy out EA and Ubi as well, then the Gamepass easily becomes the best value proposition in gaming.
Oh and they can also afford to buy out TakeTwo Interactive. And Sega. Imagine if gaming becomes a triopoly, utterly dominated by Sony, Microsoft and Tencent? :O Edit:- Forgot that Nintendo will still be pottering about, I guess Last edited by Exile009#1139 on Jan 19, 2022, 3:12:06 AM

If Microsoft can aqcuire such a huge piece of the pie, maybe they can start designing games purely designed for pc and not catering to consoles all the time.

" Its the long game that matters here. Elder scrolls, CoD, Fallout can already be made exclusives to MS platforms. If EA would get next that would mean things like Mass effect, BF and Fifa would get cut out. There wont be any reason to buy PS except some exclusives. It wouldnt be worth it anymore. |

i see this as a positive development.
if you want ms to fail that is cause if nature told us anything, it's that making things bigger to make them failsave isn't working. " the solution to the issue is to establish mouse/keyboard input on consoles and make it mandatory for certain games. that's also how ggg could have implemented their console port instead of ruining the pc version of poe by making it controller compatible. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
