In 2022, we would have a lot of H&S games. Will PoE survive it?
" I agree, especially when it comes to "screen cluster fuckery" and visibility. But these oneshots that everyone keeps talking about, is a rather rare sight in my experience. Sure, it happens once a leap year - more often for new players. But game knowledge, both regarding your character's offenses and defenses, as well as knowledge regarding how to scale content should reduce oneshots to a minimum. But we can have a fast paced game with good visibility. It's just that GGG are too stubborn on that matter, and too dependent on MTX sales, I reckon. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Come on man. Phazz the best PoE players in the world play SSFHC and get one shot all the time. Watch leaderboard first week littered with corpses of Gaming gods like darkee who was just one shot in gaunlet leading the pack by 2 levels. This is a guy who did simulacrum 30 in 4 days. You got lag, crit bursts, and probably games bugged too making one shots common.

" The fucking gauntlet? Are we using the gauntlet as an argument when it comes to balance? Of course people are getting oneshot facing a game mode 10 times as hard as its balanced for. And leaderboards? Where people rush and push content to be "first"? Come one... Of course they are pushing content they're really not ready for. The game isn't balanced around neither the gauntlet, nor SSF. I'm not saying oneshots do not exist. But they do not happen "all the time" (your words). Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" “All the time” is probably just as inaccurate as “once every leap year”….. so your hyperbole is just as wrong. |

" gauntlet aside, watch any HC rip clips. their deaths happen before they can blink. before they can react, change direction, push a flask, macro logout, anything. you'll just be scrolling along, slaying everything instantly as you do 99.9999% of the time, then without any warning, without any indication, without any sense of danger, KABOOOM you're instantly dead. its actually almost never a one shot, but 2-5 shot which just happens so fast that you can't react. now in HC these are the most common types of deaths because their characters are tanky enough to not notice anything else. so in a sense, its the only thing that will kill them, but it does happen "all the time" if you've never had it happen to you, then congratulations. but if im honest, i do not believe you. |

" And what are these people doing at the same time as playing? Oh right. They are streaming, adding more complication into their self processing, and substituting actions they should have been doing for actions they are doing with their streams. Also, gear is never min/maxed in HC. They build a general survival kit, but that doesn't always match up to reality. It's not like they can freely go around, wearing a Brass Dome, eliminate all crits and overcap resists. Also, most extremely flexible builds that can dominate content generally have one fatal flaw built in. For example, the new Boneshatter build does compoundingly large physical damage back to you depending on how many harvest stacks you have, so people bypass physical damage by using shade form. If your Shade form has even a .5 second gap and you're doing tough content, you die instantly. Or..... Doryani's Prototype Flicker build; the weakness is super obvious; With over 8k ES and extremely high leech, the build is generally unkillable, and kills so fast you can't even see most of your kills. The drawback is that you have absolutely 0 mitigation to Lightning damage that isn't a Hit, and in fact take 300% damage from those sources because of your own lowered resists. Any EVA build is vulnerable to the 25% of time that they have no physical capacity to block any damage. (even if they have spell suppression for helping with spell damage) Any build that uses Molten Shell is vulnerable to large slam-like spell hits or channeled skills, because those skills are balanced around the assumption you need the 25-34% reduction in elemental/phys damage Immortal Call gives. Any Arcane build has a severe limitation to aura buffing and general defenses, because you need all your basic resources just to perform and buff. Any March of the Legion has gaps where all auras are down, which results in unforseen vulnerability. Couple all these vulnerabilities with the fact they are streaming, and they will always die. |

most hc deaths are the players fault fyi, and they can be summed down to them running around maps at breakneck speeds while disrespecting everything along the way until they fuck around with the wrong mob

Nah, those games are just something to play when you are boring with current POE league, in the long run it's still POE and POE2 :v

Don't know what PoE's end will be, but it wont be simply "we shut down because you're all playing something else". That's just not the way things like this go. We'll be playing PoE well past 2022, and likely past 2030.

" That's a pretty bold statement, even for me. Hope you're right, though. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
