why do ppl play SSF?
I've been playing more SSF lately because I just can't deal with the shit trade system. Spamming multiple 'sellers' that never respond or inviting buyers that never turn up and all of it takes me away from actually playing the game which is what I'm here for. I want to play an ARPG, not a share trading simulator. Additionally, I don't like to feed bots and RMT houses.
Also as others have mentioned, there's a limited sense of achievement in just buying gear. It's basically why the game is in such a poor state balance wise right now. Because it's possible to buy everything outright then GGG have to balance at the upper end of the scale but it also means their only real gate to power is currency. |

" Precisely. And you guys think the answer is SSF which is bizarre. Looting sucks, so your answer is to limit your self to said sucky loot. Oo |

" The fuck logic is this? Isnt finding better loot yourself the same thing as self found loot? I don't give a damn what version league it is, HCSSF, SCSSF, or their trade league counterparts. The loot that drops (for yourself) needs to be better, much better. because ssf is more content and it feels way better to play it. As tradeleague andy you have full gear after like 10h in the league to clear all content, in ssf it takes atleast 11h

" Why do some people prefer vanilla icecream over chocolate icecream? ^^ Its a different mindset. In tradeleague you are just chasing currency to buy the next upgrade and that can get old quickly. In an SSF environment drops do matter a lot more and you have to be smart about getting/using your resources for crafting. You also cant start with a fancy build needing very hard to acquire gear. Basic builds will get the job done tho and while you are playing those, you might get gear allowing you to play less basic builds. Having said all that, you can still achieve decent level of gear and powerful character. I played a maxblock DD Necro all the way to lvl95 and depth 450ish or so in about 40hrs playtime. My gear isnt as great as it would be in tradeleague but its also not total trash - except for my weapon... Couldnt get anything better for some reason Last edited by Orbaal#0435 on Dec 8, 2021, 3:48:48 AM

Any build you can play in trade is played in SSF. Pick any build at ninja and then pull down the SSF tab and you see those played there too. The biggest issue not not builds it's min maxing items, so they'll have far less DPS in SSF.
The most glaring example of this is a watcher eye. Takes 120:1 to get a single aura effect you're after. 17,000:1 to get two aura. You're not getting either usually in SSF while top end builds in trade gets two useful aura jewel usually. Definitely one. Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on Dec 8, 2021, 4:28:56 AM

Yeah i've never liked trading in ARPG's (Diablo included), it makes loot redundant and the gameplay unrewarding as you just buy all the best gear ez mode.
The present system caters toward trade players (so i guess thats the bulk of players), to have a viable trade economy you need item and currency scarcity. Basically loot is bad and grind is high because of tradecore, the game would be better without it or with separately balanced game modes. D2's itemization and drop rates still get a lot of praise. That team put very little focus on trade, why has every other arpg since built the whole game to revolve around trading? So far GGG official stance is to intentionally sabotage the UX of their trade system to hamper trade efficiency, if it were more efficient, drop rates would be even lower, and I do see their point of view there. All and all it does suck as one of the many players penalized by a trade system i want nothing to do with. There are some possible solutions too: - Timed AH transactions for tradecore, improve QOL while limiting trade efficiency. - Even just a 25% currency drop rate buff for SSF (so i can actually engage with currency crafting mechanics properly would be a godsend). - Hardmode for streamers and 18h a day players, so they can still have bragging rights. " you dont need significant currency. whats significant? the best currency u cn probably get is orbs of binding. the more things are wrong with your character that need fixed by gear you dont have the more opportunity you have to find gear that is good for your character and fixes things. why are you playing an arpg? why are you playing a game with random loot and not a game with fixed items you always have? in a shooter game you dont need to find a good weapon, you always get the exact weapon at X point in the game or you spawn with it as default. isnt that better? because then you dont have to look for gear? surely the answer is not always, and that having a game with random loot is fun because not having stuff and not being guaranteed to get it makes it more fun when you do find stuff right? honestly its not just luck too, its knowing items and crafting etc, bases, mechanics, how youre gonna get around these problems and brute force things, mitigate rng. if you need a certain colour 4 link are you picking the base that is easiest to chrom that on? if you want RRBB are you picking up white armour/es hybrid gloves and using orbs of binding on them? theres fun in actually using game knowledge and not just knowing how to use the trade site and the crafting bench to instantly solve every problem. " cool stuff. i had some decent rings drop the cold ring is nuts. if i found another exalt id absolutely slam that second ring cause it saves me a 30 dex node too. " omg i want those boots, my boot rng was absolute trash tier. i got blueballed so hard on this 10% movespeed really early on... i cant be going that slow, i found those at about lvl50 on my first char too. killed me but i never used them. i did manage to 6 link a chest my 3rd char is a bane occultist, i havent finished getting it to 85 yet, it was a good few days for the lab so i was burning down my stockpiles of twice enchanted in standard xD this is what im dealing with tho went for a glancing block armour thing, lot of res on the block nodes, seemed a decent way to get to 85 in one piece on a witch. in a trade league id go ci or low life all day ofc. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Was the same for me... I used trash boots most of the time and then bruteforced the ones I linked. Drops failed me, Essences failed me, Fossiles failed me, Alch & Scour failed me, so in the end I resorted to chaos spamming and got lucky at some point xD |
