PoE has very little next gen, current, or even recent generation, competition.

They should be, in this current arpg market, dominating with hundreds of thousands of concurrent players.

Fact is PoE isnt that great. The core game is awful, way worse then Diablo for example, and only grabs folks with its gimmick of the quarter every 3 months. Even then people leave after 2-3 weeks after the shiny new mechanic loses its luster.

I think its actually embarrassing to have that many people be interested, and want to try/continue playing your game, only to leave nearly immediately every expansion, because yeah, it's not very fun.

It used to be the best but it's become too bloated. Too many skills with most of them not worth using, too many currency orbs, too many disconnected game mechanics like delve, heist, harvest etc. (disconnected as in they're all totally separate from each other)

There is something to be said for simplicity. Doesn't have to be as simple and stagnant as D2 but POE is too bloated now.

Still think it's the best though. For now.

I think modded Grim Dawn (Dawn of Masteries) is better than PoE right now for me.

What it lacks in terms of end game, it compensates with build diversity. It has tons of stuff to try out: Some OP; some on the harder side. But progress there is never an issue and it's enjoyable to experiment. Cool, huh?

I actually playing GD more than PoE already from day5 of league. Even unmodded it feels better than current poe. Which is now in a bad state as I feel.
