" This comment clears up so much I have wondered about you while reading your posts over the years. ...that aside, it is nice to see somebody other than myself who sees use of profanity and just a normal part of their speech habits. Many say the use of profanity is a sign of lower intelligence, but I have never agreed. Sometimes a situation can not be explained any better than a simple "FUCK!" ...narf Last edited by SqueakyToyOfTerror#0940 on Aug 26, 2021, 9:21:44 AM

You're wrong op because you need at least two months worth of data for the 'last 30 days' to be meaningful this league. Yes, it had a 78% increase this month compared to the last 30 days, which were the last 30 days of previous league, when people don't play as much.
![]() This image tells another story (zoomed out to one year). The first two waves are the two previous leagues, pretty huge. The last wave is not only smaller in height, it also crumbles much faster as time goes by. It's really bad in fact. |

" Yeah, some people actually think that the use profanities is a sign of a "limited vocabulary", when all Vikings know that using profanities enriches your vocabulary in a beautiful way, and makes you express yourself in a much "better" way. Did I mention I work as a teacher? :D But in all honesty, in the northern parts of Norway, swearing is a historically huge part of our identity and culture. The weather is harsh, the winter is long and we just do not have enough words in our language to express our dissatisfaction, without turning to profanities. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

It wouldn't be the first time PoE has a little slip in players. Don't really get the people that instantly tries to proclaim the games death.
Concidering PoE 2 is in the works and looks damn promesing I really can't see how anyone could belive that. I mean personally I have played PoE since 2013 and I sometimes need to take a break and completly ignore some leagues. I bet many does the same. Even if PoE would fall down by 50% less players. It would still be 10x more people then Grim Dawn and Lost Epoch. And does it really matter anyway? |

The retention is horrible, i dont think anyone could deny that at this point. But we already knew that weeks ago. A bad league can happen and it would be fine if we knew that its over at some point.
But now we have heavy changes to the core game that will likely persist over the next league. These interviews were just damage control and pr talk. If most of the changes wont be reverted or compensated in the next league, its probably time to accept it and move on. Its their game after all and they can do what they want. I loved this game, but i dont depend on it. I still have hope however. |

" 50 % less players means 50 % less revenue. Half the revenue would mean that GGG would have to start firing people and cancelling projects, so yeah, that would really matter. | |
|
GGG could lose 50% of it's players and not lose a penny of revenue if they did it right.
I'm sure they really appreciate the attempts to help, but they have people that know what they're doing analyzing this stuff. The players and posters on the forums aren't able to. We just don't have the data. Lots of players have quit for now. Undeniable. But are they the players who support GGG or are they players who play without supporting? No way to know. " ... Not necessarily. It depends if those leaving are equally as likely to support the game as those they retain. If the 50% lost are mostly people who buy no more than a stash tab or two if that, but those inclined to buy supporter packs mostly stay, then that cut in numbers may be a good thing for GGG finances, because they get lower server loads and hosting costs with only a small overall dip in income. They end up with a smaller playerbase, on average spending more, and better aligned with the direction of the game. If they are pushing for expansion and later monetisation of new players, then it probably bad news, because gradually the existing players will still drift off and are less likely to be replaced by new (paying) players. But that kind of financial impact might take a year or more to show. If they see a sustained drop in points/pack sales, then I think they would be concerned. Looking for a mature guild to play with?

" GGG has made huge amounts of money with PoE. Not to mention investers like Tencent throwing money at them. You seriously think a temporary drop in players will affect the entire future of PoE? Ofc it wont. And they are probably mainly putting focus into PoE 2, which kinda makes sense. Once that gets released, PoE player numbers will no doubt reach new heights again. Concidering how well PoE has been able to maintain players. I'm not really worried at all. Nothing compared to D3 that lost something like 96% of the playerbase after two months. that is honestly a very typical distribution.
The most vocal of the bunch are the literal minority... myself included. two things are happening. Many are still big Sadge/Madge about harvest entirely *existing at all in any incarnation* and there is still that negative sentiment which very much has left a legacy of weakness throughout the game (which is actually a good justification for the game being slow and arduous right now because it is something that is being measured and refined right now clearly to any keen observer) and then there is the roiling anticipation many of us have for PoE2... observe that the 3rd month numbers of a league are often 20% of the week 1 numbers and assume the same phenomenon with the end of PoE1... many of us simply want the change and are more than ready to dive in... but GGG is slowly and painstakingly removing the bandages that have covered up many of the stilted and broken aspects of their game... but we want to rip them off. at the end of the day I think that is the real core issue with PoE today... we are literally children screaming in the backseat "ARE WE THERE YET" to chris's PoE2 roadtrip. History will show that GGG taking thier sweet time and perfecting the systems PRIOR to release will be a celebrated milestone in game development history... the first nail in the coffin marking the death of "Pre-order culture"... but also get your 400$ supporter packs starting 1 month before release though LUL I have never felt further from what I know and love
