afaik theres no "auctionhouse"/real searchfunction there though and its only there to make people pay money to unlock extra features... its far, FAR from what people are imagining here.

Ppl here ask to implement autotrade, NOT auction. And there is semi-autotrade (confirmation required), NOT auction.

yes. but i think you know as well as me that people always talk about an "auctionhouse" but mean instant trade...

We would just see another form of price fixing: Bots/scripts sniping up 'everything'

Not if there's a puzzle / CAPTCHA, or similar you have to solve to complete the trade.
It would add a few seconds for sure, but taking the bots/scripts out of the picture would be the greatest trade improvement you could think of.

But yeah, they seem to be stuck in the 90's.

Please, make a thread where you ask the community if they would want CAPTCHA/etc in the game, and you come back to me on that (I'll be waiting). They aren't stuck in the 90's. Automated trade isn't "new". It's just "bad", in a loot-driven ARPG. Please, tell me one successful ARPG with automated trade.

Is their trade system good? No. Can improvements be made? Of course. But automated trade is not the way to go. But this debate is old, and I always leave with this: As long as they still require both buyer and seller to be online to trade, and that the seller has to accept the trade, I don't really care what they do.

Just to clarify, I never meant for automated trading to replace current "system", merely supplement, as to give the players a choice. One they would ensure a fast and secure guaranteed buyout of the listed item(s), without the hassle of scrolling through half a screen or more on the trade site.

I also don't object to sniping, first come, first serve, and the bots are what they are, whomever Snipes, does so in mutual consent with the party the put the listing up there to begin with.

Unfair advantages? Bots are always online?
It's hardly an issue, we are all capable of signing on an agent that monitors listed items and should it fail, there would still be transparency in regards of what listings are honest and what aren't.

Well, it's their fault if they don't understand the difference. Topic starter definitely has a clue of what he's talking about.

Personally I dislike the idea to introduce auction. It will be hell for the buyers. Just don't want to wait for my item and will get the message from the system like this:
"Sorry loser, but the item has been sold to the person which offered better price than you.". LOL.

How about for selling items that cost less than some amount, say 5 chaos, when put on sale it will be sold automatically. Or even a "store", you put something in the store and you don't have to even be logged on for it to sell. When you log on then you get a message to collect the sale price. It could be limited to nothing priced higher than 5 chaos or something. The small sales like that it is not worth coming in from a map to make the transaction.

I like the auction house idea, but idk, I still love using path of exiles trade function. It's fun dealing with so many people with all sorts of different attitudes. Sometime clashing personalities. It's just interesting beyond what an auction house could bring. It also remind me other people exist and are (sometimes)cool.
