" Personally I could care less about graphics to be honest, I still play D2 and would love to play Diablo if I could get it to work on Win7... I was just speaking for the general masses. I totally agree smooth gameplay trumps all. "the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

" The time for "sensible" is over. As of GGG's press-release in March, they had surpassed 2 million registered users for the game. While I have no metrics for how many users play, how often, and how many donate money -- Even at reasonable estimates they have a healthy financial base for their growth. The "cutlery" we've provided is our money, time invested, and passing the word along. I've personally donated $70+ to this game, which is $10-20 more than I give the big software houses for their mega-titles that cost mega-money to make. And as far as the "big, fat mouthfuls of grease". This is a misleading metaphor. We're asking them to fix some highly important core architectural problems of the game. This, while a complex task, is paramount to the success of the game (in relation to other things needed to be done). If the game's playability is `too big of a mouthful` -- then indeed, they have bit off more than they can chew. I used to be conceited, but now I'm perfect

I would never presume that 'registered users' is any metric for cash flow. Not for a non pay-to-win free-to-play game where many people have admitted they'll only support if the cosmetic items are absolutely to their liking and let's be honest, most so far haven't exactly screamed 'MUST HAVE'. Even now, I would say people buying the microtransactions are a mix of those of us with Closed Beta Support GGGold to burn and those who'd just donate (as you put it) anyway.
Oh, and stash tab hoarders. The time for sensible will never be over. Not when you're still as small and stretched-thin as GGG is. The home-grown indie image is nice and I totally respect that they're sticking to it, but I'm personally surprised they haven't expanded their effective developer base (by effective I mean people who work on the bigger issues such as desync) somehow. I'm sure there's a reason, but it does surprise me. Because as endearing as Grinding Gear Games are in their indie, underdog status, that's not the case anymore. Path of Exile has taken a stab at the throne and by all rights should be sitting on it. It started with an indie vision but the demand imposed by GGG's achievements thus far may well be too much for the current form of GGG to handle. They're definitely not the underdogs anymore and they're definitely not charming anyone with the resourceful use of limited resources. That sort of thing shines in Closed Beta when it's okay to say 'holy shit, you made THIS with only 15 people?' and then compare it to Diablo 3, which disappointed people in many ways but polish sure as fuck wasn't one of them. Once you enter Open Beta, the game is no longer 'look how clever we are with what we have' -- it's now 'look at what we are now compared to before.' But as I said, we cannot use registered users as an indication of cash flow and I refuse to believe that GGG is mismanaging their funds. They're too used to operating on a shoestring to suddenly become slovenly and sloppy with their finances. At any rate, I stand by my metaphor. The cutlery is the money, you're right, and I genuinely am not convinced enough is flowing in to tackle these bigger issues expediently *and* keep the game running *and* develop more content. Your $70 is totally appreciated and I believe it went to good things, just as my undisclosed-but-obviously-more-than-$1000 did. That's not the point, though. I've never developed a game and have no idea how much it costs. I just contributed what I could to do my part to ensure this game is made and made as good as possible. I must retain the belief this is still the case, or I might as well quit now. An investment isn't in the present, but the future. You either believe in that future and stick by your investment or you cut your losses and do something else. Were Supporter packages an investment strictly speaking? Of course not. You don't get anything back, but they were definitely an investment in the same way as we say 'I invested time and interest in this thing'. Back to the metaphor: the greasy fat people are expecting GGG to swallow is rushing the work at hand, which I don't believe is possible. I know pretty much for a fact how many hours a day Chris works, and how hard he pushes his staff. A person's mouth can only open so wide. So to conclude the metaphor, one of two things needs to happen. They either take smaller bites -- which they're doing right now and we have people like you saying 'the time for sensible is past' i.e. cram that food in NOW... or they get a bigger mouth. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Game is nice, idea is nice, but if u measure all '+' and '-' those '-' will outweigh by a good amount. Still waiting for devs to get their shit together wich I'm sure they will at some point.

Sometimes I wish you people were put in their shoes. Everybody talks like the solution is right there with a wave of Chris' magic fairy prince wand.
When you actually have to deal with a complex problem with no clear-cut solution some time in your line of work, you'll learn to appreciate not complaining about things people are very well aware of and prioritizing. |

" No, people are angry for misunderstanding that the addition of new skills/cosmetic items does not imply that they aren't working on the other 100000 issues - Okay I really only think there are a few issues. 1. desync. 2. hp stacking. 3. melee survivability 4. team play being far more beneficial than solo. of those, I expect (2)(3)(4) to be addressed or fixed before (1).
