Massive RIP to PoE.
I just HOPE they keep all the glitches and non harmful exploits cause they were part of the game imo.
Things like uber leveling, desynch, etc plus how the servers worked just the way it was. Better graphics, make new act and some new runewords or uniques and base items, and dont touch anything else. Odds are most of what actually made D2 great isnt gonna be in this remastering. |

" You don't have to "suspect", as game play footage is out and available. It looks decent, but it's still limited to 25 fps (beneeth the surface). Your rendering and streaming will of course happen much faster. So, the "flow of combat" will not measure up tp PoE. People can talk all they want about multiplayer, co-op and MMO features. But PoE being so successful as it is, shows that these aspects aren't that important. If PoE did ONE thing right regarding this, it is the fact that you can solo everything, and don't have to party up for anything, with a nice balance of rewards regarding multiplayer/singleplayer. Anywhore, I agree with you, Diablo 2 has no real end game. Sure, it will be fun for a while, but returning ladder after ladder without additions/changes or anything, isn't for everytone. PoE has the deepest endgame of every game I've ever played. Sure, people may find it boring, unbalanced, grindy or whatever, but it is MASSIVE! Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Believe it or not but Tencent is going to light a fire under GGG's ass when they see MUCH less numbers with whatever league is out when this launches. It doesn't matter if it's only for a few weeks, months, whatever. They're corporate investors don't think the same way we do and they are not going to be happy.

" well, I am talking about my own preferences. obviously poe has a huge fanbase and many people enjoy it for what it is, but I personally enjoy multiplayer. so poe has never been my kind of game, even if I have invested hundreds of hours into it over the course of many years. and combat wise I just dont like poe. it feels 100 times better for me to slaughter mobs in diablo 2 and diablo 3 than if feels for me in poe. it comes down to preference. the real problem is the end game for me. I dont want to run the same baal stage a billion times. that may have worked back when I was a teen and there werent any half viable alternatives around, but I doubt I will be playing the remastered diablo 2 for hundreds or thousands of hours if nothing actually changes regarding the endgame. I am the kind of guy who prefers playing the same multiplayer game over the course of many years over playing dozens of single player garbage games that are absolutely forgotten after 20, 50 or 100 hours. again, that is simply my personal preference. |

" Yeah, it always comes down to preferences. For me, the customization is key. Without it, there's no longevity in an ARPG for me. As an example; if I can't make a working Cycloner that's different from most people's cycloner, the game is too shallow for me. If I don't have access to different forms of defenses and offenses, I'm out. That's where D3 failed miserably in my eyes. There are no "real builds" there. Diablo 2 had real builds. Hell, even Diablo 1 had them. But Diablo 3? Failed hard. I mean, "offense" and "defense"? Come on. And Diablo 4 seems to go down the same, shallow alley. I suspect there won't ever be a game with PoE's level of customization when it comes to builds. Neither will there ever be an ARPG with an endgame the size of PoE's endgame. It's far from perfect, but it's the best out there. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Feb 20, 2021, 12:21:05 PM

Here's a crazy suggestion:
People can play multiple games! D2 Resurrected will be nice, and PoE will continue to be nice. When you get bored of one game, you go play the other. The more arpg love the better. I'm excited. |

" Don't worry they'll just delay the new league for two weeks until people (including me) get bored of D2:ReRe and come back home. Second-class poe gamer

Aren't these the same people who told us that the last 5 major releases would each kill PoE?

actually i probably will keep my eye on this a bit - im at a disadvantage as not having played D2, but if D2 offers a more poe 1.0 playing feel then i'll probably check it out
we've evolved to the point of just blazing through 99.9% of content super fast, everything easy until you just die. i don't really like how fast things have become over the years and i have always hoped GGG would tone it down. its enjoyable for a time, but boring. if d2 is more of the mild version, only taking on a handful of monsters at a time type of thing, i'd probably enjoy it. |
