Massive RIP to PoE.
" One Arena run costs 150 ingame gold. With the old system most of the daily quests gave 60 gold, plus you could earn extra 100 gold a day if you win 30 games a day which takes a whole lot of grinding. So it's two days or one day with heavy grinding for one arena run. I call it greedy. Of course now the new system gives more, but the old greedy system was in the game for years. Regarding the collection. I've always saved my gold for the launch, so on the launch day I had 7000-8000 gold mostly from dailies - people who played more of course had a bit more gold from daily wins. Now 7-8k gold grants you 70-80 packs. The average legendary drop rate is 1 in 20 packs, but if you are unfortunate you are guaranteed at least one legendary in 40 packs - and I've been on a short end several times. At least I was a f2p player, but every expansion there are some angry players who actually pre-ordered bundles and got only 2-3 legendaries from their 80 packs. But let's be generous and say it's 4 legendaries in those 70-80 packs. Now the latest set has 25 legendaries - correct me if I miscounted. Congrats, you now have 4 legendaries from the set, and can create like 3 meta decks because every deck has specific legendaries. That is if those 4 legendaries are actually playable. But don't worry, when dusting the extra leftover cards you will get about 2000 dust which is enough to craft another legendary of your choice because they cost only 1600 dust. Meanwhile a Runeterra player completed the full collection in less than a year without paying a dime: https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/k1iicj/legends_of_runterra_player_completes_full/ There was never a point in Hearthstone when you could get a full or even close to full collection as a f2p player. Sorry to break your bubble, but facts and math don't care about your feelings. |

" It really was that bad :p everyone used practically identical items, they were heavily gated basically behind class choice and all but about 2 legendaries were beyond useless at any point you acquired them. Still was good for $$ if you could tough it out |

" Just wondering about your feelings about these points in regards to GGG? 1) bad f2p: The PoE free to play experience is absolutely miserable, too. 2) Lies: How about the GGG lies? Like "no currency 2 stash tab, we will update existing tabs", but instead we get 3 new tabs to hold new fragments and currencies? Or most recently the buff to 40 - was it 40? - gems? I'm sure there's more examples, how do you feel about them? |

" I know many people who play Heartstone without spending a single cent & have good experience. I do not know anyone who play PoE & still use the default 4 stach tabs They literally charge you for naming your tab & allow for trade, a suppose core part of the game! A lot of what they sell you are solution to problem they craeted, like the special tabs. I have to pay to remove aura/spell effects as there are well too much effects & my character is like a walking christmas tree that hurts my eye. I spend 600€ & every tab is a premium tab & have most of the special tabs because I hate to handicap myself. If I hate GGG, I obviously won't spend this much, but that doesn't mean I liked it or think its "fair". YOu can like a game but be critical of its issues. In other game forums, you can have a proper dicussion of other games. Here the "passsionism" is so high that merely suggesting some game may have done something better than PoE & its like you insulted their kids & must be shut down. |

" Games do not need constant new content updates to be appreciated or relevant or even compete. We play games if they are good, everything from classics like Heroes 3 to the next-gen Elder scrolls. At some point new content even hurt games as they become bloated/confusing and may therefore decrease in popularity(it has the opposite effect) Ask yourself honestly, would people be playing Path of exile today like they still play classics like Diablo 2 if no new content was being developed? The answer to that question is the very reason why Diablo-resurrected does not need to compete with PoE content-wise, it has many other qualities that PoE does not have and is much appreciated for that. The updated graphics and Qol changes to an already very solid core is what fans asked for, and now they got it, unless blizz scews something up its obviously gonna be a success. However these kind of discussions are truly pointless, D2-R , PoE 2, D4 and the next-gen Elder Scrolls etc can all coexist as long as they are good games people will play them, that is the only real criterion. OP is an abvious clickbait that only works because people like yourself are not used to this game having real competition and you invested personal feelings into entertainment, well better get used to it(PoE reigned during a calm period) as we are now fast approaching times when sequels to very popular series are coming. " 1) I don't believe PoE f2p experience is misserable. It's just inconvenient because you don't have enough space to pick everything that you want. You can still beat all content. A player won 100 level race with the basic 4 tabs. My brother just started playing PoE this League. He was able to make tons of currency (for a new player) without even so much as a premium stash tab and with simply selling all his low currency for chaos and funding his build that cost several tens of exalteds. It says a lot about f2p experience for me. I took Hearthstone as an example. They improved the f2p experience a bit over the years, but at the beginning it was the definition of misery. In order to complete daily quests to get gold for the card packs you had to actually WIN games, and win them with certain classes. But since you were often matched against people with bigger collections it was a real struggle and you had 30-40 percent winrate, that is unless you decided to make a shortcut and buy 'in-game power' in the form of packs for real money. I don't even see how it even compares to some inconvenience caused by the lack of tabs in PoE. It's only miserable if you're a hoarder. Now after gaining some experience in game I could probably even enjoy the game with 4 basic tabs - I'd just stop picking all the useless divination cards, prophecies, hundreds of sacrifice fragments and blight oils. 2)Frankly I haven't heard much about these things. No game/gaming company is perfect and nor is GGG, but Blizzard just keeps f-king up on a major scale. Then again it's a PVE game, so I can't really be bothered with balance issues in a PVE game compared to PvP games where screwing up game balance will directly affect my winrate in some ways. Lies about new stash tabs? Greedy, but I again - a lot of them are not even needed. I wouldn't waste money on the essence or delve tab for the second time, and I find delirium and blight tabs just as useless. A little P.S.: Knowing how many technical issues PoE constantly has and how everything breaks as soon as devs add something new to the game I wouldn't even be surprised if 'combining/improving' tabs was actually a technical challenge and not a matter of greed and milking players. But who knows for sure? Last edited by esostaks#6761 on Feb 24, 2021, 8:54:30 AM

" No doubt about it. You can play Hearthstone as a f2p player if you limit your expectations and come to terms with the fact that you'll be able to play only a few competitive decks every meta. I've hit Legend rank as a f2p player, and rank 5 (in the old system) many months in a row after that, but it took a year of grinding and struggle to get my first competitive deck which wasn't even that expensive. Meanwhile a guy gets full collection in Runeterra in less than a year and has a freedom to play whatever he likes. " Sorry, but 600€ seems like a personal problem. I initially spent 20€ and had more than enough. Then spent another 40€ for more convenience only to find out I don't even need half of those tabs. The difference, however, is that I gave this money to GGG gladly because I was and still am having an awesome time with their game. Meanwhile I'll never support Blizzard willingly knowing their practices - that even 200€ a year won't give you nowhere near a full collection in Hearthstone. I still regularly play D2 and am looking forward to D2R.
Will it stop me playing PoE as well? No, lol. Souls along a conduit of blood, from one vessel to the next.
