Massive RIP to PoE.

there are multiple competition is coming out this year and next year:

diablo 2 remaster

lost arc ( do not write it off as korean p2w, whomever played it gave it positive review and base on my experience, it is good.

corepunk (hybrid of arpg and mmo which is interesting because we never had anything like it.

last epoch ( currently on early access, and received very positive reviews on steam.

next year 2022:
diablo 4

project TL from ncsoft

also wolcen and torchlight 3 might rise from dust and devs of those games might make them decent through out 2021 and 2022, we have to wait and see.

as for poe, i am not playing poe anymore because of 10% exp penalty, it is way too punishing and hard core.

disclaimer: non of them are certain to come out exactly this year or next year, but it wont change the fact that serious competition is on its way, the kind of competition poe never faced before specially for past 7 years, real test for poe is about to begin, can they keep current number of players with their hard core 10% exp penalty bullshit.

Diablo 4 is not coming out 2022.

99.9% of "PVP" in D2, was some random entering the game going hostile, then roaming around trying to gank people. There are so many braindead, brainwashed, nostalgic people trying to rewrite history...

False, most D2 pvp activity took place outside of act 1 town, in duel games(open or private).

Besides ganking was easily prevented using password or level restriction.

Highly doubt it, hardly anything new was revealed at blizzcon(except rogue class). My guess is late 2023.

They LITERALLY said all they did was put a filter on it by merging it with the original game lol and they want it like that.

This is either a poor troll or the words of someone with zero technical knowledge.

It is not a "filter".

Anyway. D2 fans, and they are legion, just wanted a graphics overhaul with some QoL changes. We did not want some team to come in and recode everything from scratch as that means it would never play or feel the same. It would just be a shitty port. VV knocked this one out of the park.

If people don't like the price so be it. Millions of people will gladly pay it and be glad they did.

What it is a filter they created the base engine and applied to the original game itself that's it. That's what a filter is it's literally like photoshopping to make something pretty layer by layer. It's in there words

what the fuck LOL

Hence the animations are stiff hence everything literally looks the same but with a prettier outlook it's applied to the base engine itself; A filter.

LMAO

[Removed by Support]

Wrapping the rendering code was part, as was transferring the tileset to 3D space as was reimplenting the net code to work with modern bnet. That's more than a filter but you keep being you missy.

And yeah it animates and plays the same because that's what players wanted ...

Regardless, people complaining about a massively requested remaster costing $40 is laughable on this forum. They sold the property for over $100 million yet claim they have to keep predatory loot boxes to stay afloat.

I'm interested in the mod support - Path of Diablo, Meridian XL etc. are all great but they look like shit and there's nothing they can do about it working with the old engine.

The issue there is apparently any mods that require changing game files will not be supported. But they supposedly have modified the code to allow more customization by modders.

I bet they eventually will allow massive overhaul mods to work, but that's understandably not their priority. Let them release it and give us a season first.

Depending on where the modders got their models and textures from, these mods, IF playable in the remaster, will probably not look good.
If the only used existing skins and textures, the mods will look good as well. If not, the mods will have to be recreated with new graphics. PoD and MedianXL are popular enough to warrant that, but older, no longer actively maintained mods will probably not work.
And from my short experience in the D2 modding world I got the impression that many modders were not big fans of open source. At least when it comes to their own work.

still gonna be playing poe and supporting poe as well. I can play both games if I want to. I don't think d2 remastered will have seasons and ladders, since they want to focus on diablo 4... if you think d2 remastered is going to be a continous game is crazy. activision/blizzard want to make money and if they make d2 remastered a continous game with seasons and ladders it would hurt diablo 4.

Old d2 had ladders, and they have even confirmed to shorten the length of the ladders in the remastered version. They currently last 6 month.

The thing is. D2 wont have any new content. Old D2, new D2, both are the same content-wise, it will get boring quick compared to PoE where you get new content every league. GGG has nothing to worry about when it comes to D2 remastered version. Yeah, people will play it, but it doesn't have the replayabilty that PoE has considering all the content updates PoE has.
no, poe never will die
i will download it for free
and a better question, when carmageddon 2 carpocalypse now remaster?
my english sux.
