Clarifying the Ascendancy Changes

I had literally no issue with the nerfs, until you posted this.

Some people may think I'm saying this because my favorite class got nerfed blah blah blah, hell no, I simply cannot accept the fact you obviously nerfed it then said you didn't intend to do so, we're not that dumb, okay？

Based on what I know it seems like more of a Nerf than a buff for most of the ascendancies right? For example - A quick look at nerco and with the changes I see mainly nerfs? The post even specially lists down the nerfs for all to see.

Translation:

"If you players keep repeating to yourselves those are buffs and not nerfs, eventually it will become the truth for you."

Basically, either we pathologically lie to ourselves to feel better, or we deal with the fact they, in fact, lied to us.

Nerfs are fine, some are harsher than they should be. What pisses me off is lies.

This is pretty much like winning a car, company says the car will be better, more easy to drive.

they release that the car will have 20 less horsepower then the latest car.

And you start complaining about the 20 less horsepower.

Without knowing what kind of shape or form the car has, what kind of engine it runs on, what kind of tires it has etc.

So much whine without getting to see the skill tree, or skill gems.

bull, you nerfed my jugg pretty hard. he was kinda lackluster damage wise in endgame as is. needs some insane gear to do endgame now. BOOO

Balancing the meta is one thing but when players don't play the meta it is another problem... I can't stand Meta build and usually play with my own builds since 2013. Yes i have not finished the game and won't probably finish it ever, but the main point is to have fun and some of the ascendancy changes are not fun at all...

It like if you play Terraria and found out an OP weapon that cheese many bosses of the game, why should it be nerfed ?

What GGG is doing is nerfing casual players essentially to avoid them doing the very late game content, while preserving elite players the ability to continue printing money.

GGG thinks of Path of Exile as if it was an MMO with very late game content accessible to only 1% of the player base, but there is a problem here, PoE is not an MMO and will suffer player retention with those kind of unannounced nerfs.

Sure, Harvest will make up for some of the power loss, but being able to craft exalt / mirror tier items will need month for casual players to be at that point and it starts being unfun and feeling like a day job...

Of course nerfs and buffs hit one or the other sometimes more sometimes less. But with such a complex game, I don't think you can say "OMG they nerfed the shit out of XY" just because they removed one thing or another.

Sometimes it reads far worse on paper than it really is, e.g. lots of gems are getting buffed (information that we don't have yet) and balacing POE is really not easy to imagine.

Here the name Grinding Gear Games is a good example for it, if you only turn a small gear wheel, then it has an impact on the entire rest. Of course, it is now difficult to decide on a league starter, but I'll wait until 1-2 weeks in the league with my opinion.

I never take the time to write a message but seeing the response to what I believe to be good changes has felt sad really.

People have no respect for GGG or their desire to have a well-balanced game. They just want to stick to their OP builds (Bladeblast Poison Assassin, Aura stackers, Earthshatter Jugg or Glad) with no regards to the overall health of the game.

Many, many people are just sore losers, spoiled children that cry because their absurdly OP ascendencies have been taken away from them.

In a way, I get that. You've played OP characters, some because you discovered neat interactions and used them (exploited in some instances) but this always has to end.

The worst of all is seing people being in shock or sad because Aura stackers got nerfed, like wtf fellow exiles.

I have been developping my own roleplaying game for years and I completely understand GGG's position. A game's health depends on the balance of its content. You're all putting so much pressure onto them while sometimes they should clearly just gut a build mid-league, yet they don't.

Anyway, a bit of a rant here but I hope GGG keeps up the good work. Let your game be whatever you want and do not listen to a bunch of cry-babies that only want to keep their precious broken builds a bit longer with no long-term vision.

Interesting how many of "positive" comments come from people who collect account stickers like some nerd scout in camp, for his achievements.

Wallet people are sure "supportive" to any change.
