new elementalist and golems

People whining on and on about golemancers. Full-on golemancers will be fine. They were strong before, and will still be strong.

What GGG did is improve golems for everyone else aka for players who want to use golems for their empowered buffs, and as meat shields, without going all out on using them as their primary damage dealers. Those people DID lose golems - often, in fact. It's what put people off from doing it. But now they can use golems to boost their builds without hating themselves for it.

Exactly. We also haven't seen the notes. They've done things like moved ascendency nodes to the passive tree before.

At any rate, it's healthy to shake up the meta. 99.9% of players are just going to copy/paste the new FOTM anyway.

You’re totally right about carrion and stone golems. But flame, lightning, and ice golems? Again, doesn’t mean this change was bad, but those three really weren’t anything special beforehand and could use a bit of spice.

Of course, I don’t expect GGG to distinguish this carefully in their balance changes and many skills just sit, lacking, for a while. So I guess it’s expected, but kinda sad.

Both Flame and Ice Golems had their "5 minutes" in the past before impale appeared. Its not like Stone or Carrion golems are better. Its just that physical dmg scaling is king these days.
Flame golem would be great again with a +3 weapon with no drawbacks and aura stacking to juice it :p

This so much. Before 3.13 it was my worry that by nerfing carrion golems they will also nerf something for all golems and here we have it. I wonder if they are also planning to limit the number of primordial harmony jewels one can equip, or something among those lines, so that golemancer builds are dead for good...

It's ridiculous how broken they are for a 1 click-build u meant :)
I just unequipped 2 Primordial Harmony jewels and afk'd a T16 blight pretty easy with 1 Cold Iron Point. That's the full damage nerf plus an additional cooldown and regen nerf from removing the Harmonies. Endgame this won't change much other than maybe a few seconds in the Sirus/UE fights and it may not be viable vs Maven.

Admittedly, this was a L100 char with endgame gear. Midgame this could be a real bummer.
