Why do Rangers get to have quivers?
I have asked this question as well. And while I feel that yes, bows are "weaker" than the melee 2h counterparts, the bow SKILLS make up for this. Lightning Arrow, Explosive Arrow, etc etc.
Also that whole ranged thing. So yeah, it is easy to say that melee 2h deal more damage than ranged 2h, but... they really dont. DPS wise they end up very close together or with ranged taking an easy lead thanks to the effects of chain and the like. I HOPE the new melee support skills help this but, we shall see. And if you close your eyes, does it feel like your exalt almost hit this time~

mmmm, if you are going to include logic, then you must first explain where you get the infinite amount of arrows.
oh, and we need to add in durability, otherwise stuff never break. |

" logic is obviously included in game design... here are the facts: bows are light , people using bows use quivers, it takes 1 hand to hold a bow and 2 hands to fire a bow 2h weapons are heavy, a person wielding a 2h weapon does not have a third hand to hold a support, a 2h weapon takes 2 hands to hold it and 2 hands to attack with it there is no durability like there is no limit to number of arrows its called removing complexity in order for this game to have a "repair" function there would need to be a standard currency which the developers do not want ^_^ You will hate me and I am okay with that ^_^ @EnlightenD Last edited by Arbitraged#0911 on Mar 29, 2013, 10:51:51 PM

thats retarded..its not about logic, but its about balance..
bow user have the advantage of range, and damage due to lightning arrow, lmp, chain and etc so why the hell do they get additional slot for more damage and survivability ? 70+ life from quiver is a lot..a bow user can get up to 5 - 6k hp without kaom heart mainly because of quiver while 2h melee and dual wield get the end of the stick and end up having lower hp than bow user. casters on the other hand, they just use freezing pulse, spark and a shield. more reasons why melee classes are gimped |

" bows do about same dmg as 1h weps its a tradeoff between 2 1H weps or 1H wep + Shield logic ^_^ You will hate me and I am okay with that ^_^

" i wish that is true, but archers have better skill than 1h weps or 2h good luck proving everyone that dual strike and heavy strike is better than lightning arrow Last edited by fortispectus#0920 on Mar 29, 2013, 11:38:28 PM

" i suggest a 'Weapon grip' for off hand melee 2 handers. got the idea from FFXI, 2handed weapons could be assigned a weapon grip for small additional bonus stats. i would say that due to base dmg being > than bows, weapon grips should only be able to have half of the max stats a quiver can have. " trade-offs in weapon selection in POE caster: wand + kite shield vs staff vs wand + spirit shield melee/bow: 1h + armor shield vs 1h + es shield vs 1h + eva shield vs 1h + (any of the hybrid shields) vs 2x 1H vs 2H vs bow+quiver this thread is not about skills this thread is titled why do rangers get to have quivers so the skills is not in question here, it is " the answer is because that's a trade off, there is always a trade-off 2H WEP = more dmg , less life Bow + Quiver = less dmg chance for life/res /etc 2x 1H = less dmg than 2h, but higher chance for ias , resist, etc 1h + shield = less dmg, more armor life resistance, etc ^_^ You will hate me and I am okay with that ^_^

Right.
So in real life, since you use a 2 handed bow, you can't have a quiver because you are using 2 hands to use a bow. DERP DERP DERP The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG
