So why is the chineese client a much better game than the western one?

Being clueless, oh yes you have. Very consistent at it. Of course you can keep saying "most". Obviously doesn't make it true.

It's not "chicken little" because the sky isn't falling. We're not getting an auction house. The reasons that an AH would drastically change the game have been spelled out for the last 8 years at least... I'm not going to hash them out here again simply to make you look foolish.

Most people don't have the right to tell others to stop using "most".

Fakes news and total denial.

A modified AH already exists in PoE on multiple servers across 3 platforms.

GGG is being stubborn on the Western servers, referring to a woefully outdated manifesto, to the benefit of exactly no one.

How can anyone claim the game would be ruined when there is literally active evidence against it. IT MAKES NO SENSE ANYMORE.

I will say however I mostly gave up on this awhile back because the actual arguement was pointless. It's like talking to the flat-earthers. No matter the evidence you provide (including actual physical evidence), they are still in denial.

In fact I think I will refer to the trade manifesto as the flat-earth theory from now on.

Would you take the Chinese/domestic PoE's level of p2w/pay for convenience IF it meant getting the Chinese/domestic PoE's level of polish?

Polish and QoL are different though. They should be polishing their game as a point of pride as professionals. Lack of polish is one of the reasons Chris had to craft a PR statement.

'QoL' (conflated in the PoE community more than anywhere else I've ever seen with 'features I want') has always been a point of contention between Chris and some shifting % of the community over whether a lack of QoL constitutes a fair substitute for the 'difficult' 'unforgiving' and 'hardcore' portions of the game's spirit.

As a f2p that I play for 2-4 weeks per league and then put back on the shelf 'taking' what the devs offer isn't really an all-or-nothing proposition for me. I played this game concurrently with Diablo 3 for quite a while. I played this game concurrently with Grim Dawn and Van Helsing and World of Warcraft and all sorts of other titles.

The question that's been percolating for some time on these forums and reddit is 'when will another game come along that relegates PoE to 'peer' instead of 'superior'?'.
It is incredible that some people find it logical that every time you want to buy something in the game you should use a tool outside the game, my idea of playing a game is not to be in the internet browser trying to buy something.

The amount of 3rd party sites and functions for PoE are incredible.

From loot filters, to PoEDb for crafting, to Path of Building, to trade sites, to trade overlays.

Its crazy... you would think GGG would be embarrassed, but I think that ship of shame sailed long ago...

VERY few people are claiming that an AH would "ruin" the game. A LOT of people are claiming that an AH would "drastically change" the game. And it would - on so many levels, from the market, to balance, all the way through difficulty. It all boils down to personal preferences, where you want the source of balance to be placed, and how much trading you er OK with being "expected" to do.

An AH wouldn't ruin the game. It would even make the game better for some players. For others? Well, it would make the game worse, at least in the long run. But people are even using the term "AH" for a non-instant, non-auction trade system these days, so it's impossible to even have a discussion around.

Anyhow, people claiming it would ruin the game? VERY hyperbolic.
People claiming it wouldn't drastically change the game? VERY naive.

I just recently saw this thing on reddit and my jaw dropped:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/duplicates/jcsole/hey_ggg_could_we_get_an_explanation_or_why_this/

GGG seem to be pretending that thread doesn't exist, so it makes me wonder... Have they ever communicated over here that they intend to make the chineese client a much better game and not implement the very same QoL over here? It seems absurd to me that they'd leave out so many good features. Did westerners do something bad ot deserve punishment, or what?

Chinese client is made after the specification from the owner of GGG = Tencent and they have a very specific vision for the game. So this is why.
GGG doesn't "control" it as such, they just follow orders and make whatever Tencent want them to make.

Plenty of people have said this. Please do go through some of the many trade / AH threads if you have doubts.

Even GGG in their trade manifesto, claims that an AH would impact gear progression negatively, cause less playtime due to a percieved reduction in the gear chase, and overall reduce player retention.

Basically I call BS on all that since trade marketplaces are already functioning live.

Essentially saying "nothing to see here" just fosters a lack a credibility for the Devs in the eyes of educated players.

*note this is the same for all the other points raised in the test thread featuring Streamers that actually experienced this on the Chinese servers.
