The giant Elephant in the room currently (Expros take on meta)
I never seen Terminator Genesys, just the trailers, but the Diablo equivalent is going to be incredible.

The ironic thing is, these PoE guys don't realize, but just in this thread we've spoken more about the other game than their own game... because their game lacks depth. Yeah, that's great... congratulations on upgrading 15 gems to 20+%. You clicked a lot of monsters eh?
Diablo 3, when you hit that top 10 spot on the leaderboards like I do every season start. "Woah man, how'd you do it? Fucking crazy you could get a rift that big that early." It's just not the same. When you do something big in Diablo 3, you know you did it, if you get what I mean. In PoE you're kinda just dazing off hoping the server works and you don't lose your 1k hours toon to a lag spike on PoE's end. The large skill tree in PoE is simply a shade, a shade designed to keep the light off several glaringly terrible game design mechanics, which it shouldn't take a damn ex-pro to teach you about. |

You must not be a pro, semi-pro, or ex-pro at chess, because I believe you called 'checkmate' in this thread days ago.

Bow classes. Amazons. Sorc elemental path choosing. Skill points. + to skills items. Runewords, gambling for items with gold, gold find, item find, magic find, all these insanely well implemented designs in Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 especially. now all of a sudden, I don't feel like PoE matters.

" I'd be more interested in the Diablo equivalent to The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Which might sound weird given my aversion to longer-form game service, but at least TSCC respected its world and explored it in interesting ways. Also, killer soundtrack. __ One thing I forgot to mention with my comparison: neither the Alien nor Terminator franchises ever recaptured the glory of their second outing. And both tried, many times. They looked forward. They looked back. They looked forward again. As for PoE? Because it's been a single thing all this time, merely expanded upon, I don't think you can compare it to any movie franchise. No, PoE is without doubt a TV series. And not one of those prestige 5 season monsters. No, it's more like Supernatural. People can't quite agree on which season they liked the most but can agree on which were probably the worst, to outsiders it looked like it outstayed its welcome by years, the fanbase is fucking *rabid*, and it makes fuck-all sense if you start half-way. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

" These are all good points, hence the quote. But... This is not how you make a "blockbuster" game. It is one way to get good retention from a dedicated audience, but it would never be something like a "Diablo Killer" sort game that came out of the games and shut-down a "Diablo IV Release Weekend." I'd hazard a guess that most PoE players don't create their own "builds." Most probably only lightly engage with the Crafting system. Most likely don't make it through to "end game." In short - All these cool things? They're not touching the broader audience. Sure, they are "there" but most people aren't using them. So, the value that went into creating them isn't fully realized in the customer base's habits. That's fine as long as the bills are paid. Games like this rely on whales, anyway. There's plenty of people lining up for every single League MTX pack. GGG brought in 60 million New Zealand Monies in outright PROFIT last year.* They're doing fine with this model. But, it won't have broad appeal and won't compete for the attention of players who want more of a "drop in and play and hour or so a day" sort of experience and won't catch the eye of those who are looking for a "cool muliplayer ARPG." * That may have been last years returns, can't remember. NZ makes all those public, so they're easy to source if anyone is curious. Last edited by Morkonan#5844 on Oct 19, 2020, 11:21:17 PM

Tal Rasha's tomb quest. Radamant. Paladin only items. Assassin trap builds. Assassin duplicate/mirror builds. Paladin with Zeal and concentration or fanatacism. Paladin using charge only and spamming stamina potions. Poison nova Necromancer.
All Diablo exclusives, situations and ideas that cannot be replicated, simply put the experience and perspective learned from the Diablo franchise far outmatches any dribbling essence this game has to show nor tell. Last edited by SadDropUser#4140 on Oct 20, 2020, 2:46:18 AM
