By adding a way to buy items in the game for real money that eliminates people farming?

What in the hell are you trying to say here because if my understanding is correct you're retarded.

not exactly but there is a point.. for years..farmers dominated market..because no one was powerful enough to somehow compete with farming houses, full of farmer players..people didn't care about that stuff much unless they were able to earn money..and many people just didn't even think about option to go on some forum to sell their stuff..

But when this option will be directly in front of their eyes..suddenly these farmers have to compete with millions of other players...and they wont dominate market anymore. they prices will be undercut by other players to the point, that it wont be feasible to maintain these farming powerhouses.. at least in theory.

And it will remain a great "theory" :)

But it will be great to see how Diablo 3's use of this "Theory" at the price people pay for it, holds up to real life.

Cant wait to see the results :) Though I am not going to "Pay" to take part in that experiment lol.

I mean, I had a theory that I could throw a rock at the moon and hit it once....Didnt work out as expected. :)

Just throwing alittle humor in this concluded topic. =D

So we can continue this after we see how the Diablo 3 experiment plays out :)

A year could be enough to see how the D3 economy pans out once everyone gets into inferno.

But like said earlier, this is not a D3 restricted problem. Every one of the AARPG that comes out will face the same problem one way or another if they achieve a minimum level of success ie create enough of a user base to create enough demand for real money markets to form.

Whether the company wants it or not, power will be offered and bought for real money if the user base is big enough.

Sometimes the real question in this thread should not be "should real money be used as a currency for trades?" but more "when real money is used as a currency for trades/items, what should be the response?"

And then depending on whether the D3 precedent is successful or not, an RMAH could come up as a potential solution. Or it could be no response and we are just too small in terms of resources to do anything about it aside from attempting to police and repress it.

But some of the player base in POE is naive to think that somehow POE is immune from the question of real money buying in-game power.

In that respect, D3 is doing a service to the AARPG genre in terms of taking financial risk and being the first to try out an RMAH as a solution to the 3rd party vendors.

*shrug* So you're the type to enter a conversation half-way and make everyone already knee-deep in the discussion repeat themselves just so that you are up to speed?

Who needs to get over themselves, sorry?

are you guys new here? this is the internet, NOBODY in their right mind is going to read 30 pages before offering an opinion - and nobody in their right mind would expect it.

You Charan, need to get over yourself. your donation and passion for the game DOES NOT make you our leader - in fact many people like myself probably don't care at all what you have to say.you are obviously full of yourself judging by your post history and you only serve to hurt the community by acting that way.

and tachi - my post you responded to was a suggestion for what you guys obviously see as a huge problem - despite it being common practice. to then use that post as an example of said "problem" is immature and childish, not to mention logically ingenuous.

the fact of the matter is this is an internet forum, that is not owned by either of you. everyone else can say whatever the hell they want until a mod says otherwise, and what you think about it doesn't matter at all. not even the slightest bit.
If nobody is gonna read 30 pages then they can't expect to be taken seriously.
Why was it moved exactly?

theory is built upon years of observation ..and it seems it's working..many asian farming houses are already being disbanded just because of RMAH. there is still few groups who are planing to somehow maintain economy dominance in the game but even they are saying it will god damn hard..especially if duping wont be possible.

Yes, it's still theory..but it's not pointless at all.
