Haha, at least you have names that you can relate to something tangible. For me, people just think I'm Greek. /shrug

The lab is a wall, it's not meant to be fun, it's meant to be challenging. It might be fun to some people, but let's be real here, it's trying to kill you, every inch of the way and that's justified by the amount of power waiting for you at the end. (along with armor scraps for days)
Well described.
Its replacement will no doubt be far more fun for many players (in part because the bar has already been set so low) and will hopefully also be more challenging to a player's actual skill (as opposed to their patience). These are twin weaknesses of the current system (it's too easy and yet super tedious and annoying despite being easy).
"Making players struggle for additional power" is not, and should never be, the same as "making players suffer for additional power."
A subtle but crucial distinction, and I think people failing to make that distinction accounts for about 95% of fights and arguments about the Labyrinth on this forum.

my dream in this game is still having that auction house from World of Warcraft.
imagine just waking up and checking how many things sold.
also imagine bots doing price fixing with this mechanic :)
if you click buy, exchange is done :) so if you price it wrong... bye bye currency or item :))) this would also force high prices so most things would actually be priced appropriately or else would sell to fast.
you could also do the lab or other content with no pause to go trade stuff...

For some reason, GGG still thinks that the rampant botting, price fixing, scamming, whispering 12 people before getting a response to buy a Lifesprig system using 3rd party tools is superior to an auction house and that an AH would make things "too accessible" and people would "meet their goals too quickly" and quit.
You know what makes me quit? Having to spend an hour messaging people to buy gear for a new character and sifting through 20 "fake listings" before I can find a real person (which ironically is usually a bot) to exchange my exalted for chaos.
I don't know how anyone can look at those two options and think the first is superior, but that's the world we live in. I'm personally just not giving them any more money until something changes.

Also of note is the other side for sellers, having to invite people to sell something and then be ignored or even buyer joining the group so you come back to the hideout and then being told "sorry, never mind".

Yup, this exactly.
I had a discussion about this with a buyer before and he said that the system makes him whispers 20 people at a time and just pick whoever invites first and goes from there, because otherwise he's going to spend 30 mins per item. Fair, but:
He's also part of the problem that way. People spamming 20 people and ignoring 19 means those 19 people are less likely to bother even inviting next time, because buyers are just spamming too many at a time. Also fair.
Both sides of this coin, however, are an effect of one and the same cause; a grossly outdated and deliberately tedious trading system. I'd seriously play SSF exclusively from now on, if I had the time, which I do not unfortunately.

the current trading system helps game time for ggg, half of the gameplay in softcore is sitting in hideout... an a.h. would not make things too accessible,it would make things expensive as fk,pricing them low would sell out in one click and all that would be left is the items with a price that makes you think twice before buying.

this is half of the game time in softcore and ggg thinks it helps player retention... it just pisses people off.
chris said this game is more meant to be played ssf but where am i going to show off my mtx there? :)ssf does not help much with an mtx supported game now does it :)
if it be possible...make the game pay to play and an auction house, problem solved,no more boot trading and no more corrupting content to promote selling stash tabs or making the end game bosses the darn core supporter packs.

SSF doesn't use a different server, it's a character setting with its own ladder. Your character will still show up in town where other people can see MTX and you can see theirs.
