Currency system is broken...
" THIS! You really need to think your build, your gems and your gear through and you won't requre crazy amounts of currency Last edited by Xavyer#5154 on Mar 24, 2013, 9:24:02 AM

" There is a moment in time of futility where you recognize this pattern: One must become poor on the inside to become rich on the outside. You will never see a man faking anger, passion and relentless behavior.
You will always see a man faking love, politeness and respectful behavior. |

Currency drops seems to dip down when you enter merciless as well. Since the new patch, chaos orbs hardly drop for me.
GGG listens to its fans!!! Thank you!

" Thank you for helping a fellow POE player in need. Would have done it myself if you had not stepped in :) Just wanted to give the OP some advice about this game from what I have seen (and vent some grievances in the process lol). To all those of you saying 5L items are not worth an exalted, I say go and try to craft one. 1exalted = 30-40 fusings depending on the seller/buyer. I have spent that many fusing trying to get a 4-LINK ITEM. So no, I would not call some one selling a 5L for an exalted a greedy dick. The same is with most currency in this game. Crafting is broken and you should not attempt crafting unless you have a TON of orbs. I would consider 100 alchemy 100 scouring a decent value for crafting gear (which already has the socket links you want or else add another 200 jewellers and fusings to it). Now with that much currency you can easily afford a good item instead (may not be insane but definitely in the 'good' category). I feel GGG should increase the currency drop rates. It will obviously increase the cost of items but it will allow more players to gain enough orbs to craft items. Example: I have a nice weapon with 4 mods that I like. Now to try and get another mod, I need to exalt it. But if I check the forums, I can find a better item easily for 1 exalted orb (unless the item is 5 or 6L or the 4 mods on it are max rolled). This is silly tbh. GGG has to make crafting a more viable option for players who do not engage much in grouping or trading. TLDR : Trading items gets you orbs and not using orbs gets you upgrades lol. IGN: Nisaa

" because using 50 fusings and not getting a 5 or 6L is TOTALLY the player's fault for not knowing how to craft, right? ....RIGHT? |

actually yes-

" Like I said, I have used nearly that much to get a 4L and learned the hard way that crafting is not worth it till you are swimming in currency. You can learn it the hard way like me or you can read up the game mechanics forums and crafting guides (no one really does this though lol) IGN: Nisaa

" NP. " I could be wrong, but I 'think' that might happen naturally. If I could use an uncomplicated version of the status quo.... Exalts and other currencies/mats are used almost exclusively as currencies rather than crafting mats. There are of course the few like myself who see these currencies/mats exclusively as mats, but not to a degree to matter. So we have more orbs entering the game by the second, but not being sunk out of the game at any relevant rate. As more orbs enter into circulation, prices will rise for gear. That sounds bad, but it isn't really. Your guy who doesn't trade much is still only finding orbs at the same rate, however, as is everyone (except of course finding more as you kill faster/more). This sounds like the problem just got worse, gear is now even further out of reach. But, should this guy find a nice item that he can sell to those who have a lot of orbs, he just got effectively rich compared to his orb status before finding this item. As the economy becomes bloated with orbs, the pendulum begins to swing. We might for example go from the realistic expectancy to craft being 20 times the cost of buying to being equal. The point, really simply put... is that while the cost of items goes up with orb bloat, the chance to craft remains constant. Caveat; there are of course other factors such as the individual exalt also being more used on maps, as well as the above idea itself pulling in the other direction (removing orbs) but it is early days yet to say the crafting system isn't viable. Caveat 2; also, as more good items enter the game (with no real sink for good items) the availability of decent gear rises, this also pulls in the opposite direction. It will be interesting to see where it settles. Casually casual. Last edited by TheAnuhart#4741 on Mar 24, 2013, 11:12:45 AM

Fix the orb of unlinking and it will help a ton.
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.
Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :( Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt. |

@TheAnuhart: Problem with this 'one good drop that makes you rich' is that for most people it will not happen.
Also: Rising prices for gear might rather lead to people hoarding their currencies rather than spending them on crafting. I think you are being a little too optimistic here. Last edited by Jojas#5551 on Mar 24, 2013, 11:25:04 AM
