Running 11s&12s(didn't record map names), getting 4&5 stacks, which means I should be "deep in the fog" and yet pulling same or lower splinter drops (0-9).
you also missed the part where I, and many others, said PRE-HERALD-PATCH, on tiers 1->15, splinter drops were consistently 5-10x higher than post-patch.
but don't let facts get in the way of your snarky retort.
This is from after the patch:
I had additional packs or Alva and killed everything to the end of the map while in Delirium.
So what GGG posted about what contributes to splinters is right.

It´s not just him running lower maps.
Look at my post from yesterday:
t14 tropical island
3 breaches
3 incursion
ferald lord prophecy
Zana beyond mod
109 increased quantity
killed all in fog including double map boss
...18 splinters
The most splinters I ever got were 25 in a nice "juiced" 5/3/1 map.
I even leveled a second charakter but still low splinter droprate.
Don´t try to tell us there isn´t something bugged.

I only run t14-t16 maps, only maps im getting 20ish is burial chamber.
Seems the multi zone maps do indeed give more tho.
Burial, ramparts both gave me more compared to the rest.
Clearing alva temples does shit, just did t14 cemetary, managed to clear 2 of them, got 1 whopping splinter total.
friends are getting 40-50 in burials juiced up, up to 80ish in tropical island.
But done plenty of maps where i fight to the end, and gotten jack as well.
just ran a t14 belfry , alc and go no sextants nothing, didn't even clear to the boss, got 21 splinters. Cleared to outside his room only. There was drox inf tho.
t14 dunes now, cleared to end, killed boss, 5 splinters lol.

If possible, can you please name the map you're running rather than just saying the tier as this does matter (map layout).
Finally, GGG KNOWS there is a problem. I received this from someone at ggg, because I was PM'ing him my test runs along with posting to this thread.
There's a rumor that distance from mirror affects the splinters dropped from mobs. Multi-zoned maps like Tropical Island, Glacier, and Burial Chambers may yield higher splinter drops (and possibly other loot types) compared to other map layouts. Maybe even something like Coves, where if you hit 5/3/1 or even 6 stacks, but circle around to mirror might yield very low drops.
This is seriously F*CK*D if this is true. Raise your hand if you believed the more and faster you killed, the more loot you would get. If you raised your hand, you are a hapless nerd, but my point stands. If map type, and not PLAYER PERFORMANCE is influencing rewards, this will be one of GGG's bigger F*CK*PS
The deeper in the Fog you are, the higher the chance of Splinters dropping, this is intended and vaguely mentioned in both the Delirium Trailer and 3.10.0 Patch Notes.
Quantity on Maps and Quantity from Player's also don't increase Splinter drops.
Splinter drops are independent of the 5/3/1 reward stacks that you get.
Splinter drops take the following into account:
- Map Tier (the higher the Map Tier, the better)
- Depth (The deeper in the Fog you are, the higher the chance of monsters dropping splinters)
- Pack Size (More monsters results in more Splinters)
The issue people are raising is not that splinter drops are too low, it's that they objectively were reduced in quantity for doing the same exact content after the patch. If we were getting the low amounts of splinters before the patch, this thread would not exist, but the issue is that we got many more splinters before the patch doing the exact same thing, so the patch changed something for the worse.
There's no powercreep here. Creep implies it's slow and could be overlooked, this is a full out sprint.

I've wondered if the vacuum system doesn't accidentally leave some splinters unlooted if people are too fast when they "drop". Metrics tracking drops VS loots would show this though I guess.

well, there you have it folks. I don't know how much "deeper in the fog" I can be than at the end of Beach or Strand(8&9), and yet those maps consistently drop shit for splinters(4-7). Running 11s&12s(didn't record map names), getting 4&5 stacks, which means I should be "deep in the fog" and yet pulling same or lower splinter drops (0-9).
GGG wants people to not play the same map over and over (look what they've done to atlas), and yet they continue to design league mechanics that are either broken, or greatly favor specific maps / map types.
The favored map seems to be maybe 25%, hard to say because map drops of same tier or higher is fairly infrequent (for me anyway). If league mechanics are map specific, make favored map type 100%. I'll turn it off when I'm bored.
also, while splinter drops may be "independent of the 5/3/1 reward stacks", you'd think the stacks would be indicative of HOW MANY MONSTERS YOU HAD KILLED, and you'd think in order to keep the number climbing, you'd have to continue advancing in the fog.
So you said my information regarding how I get 40+ splinters/run was useless, yet you've specifically mentioned STRAND as the map you get nothing from. The same map I'm running to get splinters.
Ironic.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris. Last edited by Ydoum#5726 on Apr 8, 2020, 5:47:20 PM
