@GGG Broken drops of splinters introduced in 3.10.1

Alright, i have checked 4 Maps:

Port - Tier 6 - Quant: 75 - 5/3/1 - 21 - Omniphobia + 2 Legion + Breach
Port - Tier 6 - Quant: 72 - 5/3/1 - 9 - Legion + Breach - 1 death
Port - Tier 6 - Quant: 82 - 5/3/1 - 9 - 1 Legion + Breach
Port - Tier 6 - Quant: 69 - 4/2 - 1 - 1 Legion + Legion Commander - 1 death

i kinda screwed the last map myself, i took way too long to kill the Legion commander.
The first Map went the best, i had a pretty hard u-turn on maps 2-4 where i had to walk all the way back and since the mist retreats in a circle, it was already gone.

Might not have been the best map to test it (since the boss is pretty shitty for delirium as well).

I didn't kill the boss on any of those maps (the reason is stated above).

I think it has something to do with the delirium bosses. On all the last maps, where i got 0-5 splinters, i didn't encounter a boss. And suddenly, when there is a boss, boom, 21 splinters.
Dunno what are you peeps talking about, but correctly preparing maps to farm splinters (a few chaos investment) yields me 40+ splinters/run.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.
So, please tell me: what are you doing to prepare your maps?
It seems, i have some missing knowledge about preparing them :)
- What map are you running?
Tropical Island
- What tier is this map?
Tier 14
- Is your loot filter setup to hide Splinters if they're not a specific stack size?
no
- Are you full-clearing the map while in the Fog?
killed all monsters in fog, 17 remaining
- Are you killing the Map boss while in the fog?
yes, double boss
- What skills are you using?
storm brand
brand recall
flame dash
- Are you killing any Delirium Boss?
didn´t notice one
- Could you provide recordings of your map runs?
screenshot added

t14 tropical island
3 breaches
3 incursion
ferald lord prophecy
Zana beyond mod
109 increased quantity
killed all in fog including double map boss

... 18 splinter

T14 Strand, q20, at least 90 IIQ total

- Sextants, at least one with either Breach or Legion encounter. The rest are additional mob packs
- Polished or Gilded Breach Scarab + any strongbox scarab + any Legion scarab (optional)
- Prophecies, e.g. Plague of Frogs/Rats, Strongbox

My highest drop was 54 splinters (this included boss kill and conqueror kill during the same delirium encounter), with 40 being the average result.

Basically pretty much everything that I acquired naturally by playing the game, with exception of scarabs, as those don't drop that often for me.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

If possible, can you please name the map you're running rather than just saying the tier as this does matter (map layout).

Finally, GGG KNOWS there is a problem. I received this from someone at ggg, because I was PM'ing him my test runs along with posting to this thread.

There's a rumor that distance from mirror affects the splinters dropped from mobs. Multi-zoned maps like Tropical Island, Glacier, and Burial Chambers may yield higher splinter drops (and possibly other loot types) compared to other map layouts. Maybe even something like Coves, where if you hit 5/3/1 or even 6 stacks, but circle around to mirror might yield very low drops.

This is seriously F*CK*D if this is true. Raise your hand if you believed the more and faster you killed, the more loot you would get. If you raised your hand, you are a hapless nerd, but my point stands. If map type, and not PLAYER PERFORMANCE is influencing rewards, this will be one of GGG's bigger F*CK*PS

The deeper in the Fog you are, the higher the chance of Splinters dropping, this is intended and vaguely mentioned in both the Delirium Trailer and 3.10.0 Patch Notes.

Quantity on Maps and Quantity from Player's also don't increase Splinter drops.

Splinter drops are independent of the 5/3/1 reward stacks that you get.

Splinter drops take the following into account:
- Map Tier (the higher the Map Tier, the better)
- Depth (The deeper in the Fog you are, the higher the chance of monsters dropping splinters)
- Pack Size (More monsters results in more Splinters)

well, there you have it folks. I don't know how much "deeper in the fog" I can be than at the end of Beach or Strand(8&9), and yet those maps consistently drop shit for splinters(4-7). Running 11s&12s(didn't record map names), getting 4&5 stacks, which means I should be "deep in the fog" and yet pulling same or lower splinter drops (0-9).

GGG wants people to not play the same map over and over (look what they've done to atlas), and yet they continue to design league mechanics that are either broken, or greatly favor specific maps / map types.

The favored map seems to be maybe 25%, hard to say because map drops of same tier or higher is fairly infrequent (for me anyway). If league mechanics are map specific, make favored map type 100%. I'll turn it off when I'm bored.

also, while splinter drops may be "independent of the 5/3/1 reward stacks", you'd think the stacks would be indicative of HOW MANY MONSTERS YOU HAD KILLED, and you'd think in order to keep the number climbing, you'd have to continue advancing in the fog.

you're running t8/9 maps mate...
