Wolcen overtook POE as the new number 1 arpg game on Steam (127k concurrent players at the moment)
" You can play Wolcen offline as well and Steam doesn't count those players. Probably a load of those players especially with their server issues. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wolcen true player number is closer to 500k and we see that 127k increase steadily. |

Probably a billion. Or more.
Your comparison is still apples and oranges. Particularly since you have no idea how many are offline. And I don’t know how many are on standalone client. It’s a stupid discussion. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Feb 17, 2020, 1:06:14 PM

" It's worth noting that only about half of PoE's players play through steam. Honestly though good for the Wolcen devs, the game is doing good. I don't intend to play it myself, but it's good to see the genera get some more successful titles. It's pretty obvious that they are not trying to compete with PoE as they released in PoE's last month of the league dead zone, and the game is obviously designed to appeal to a more casual player base. |

" Such an odd thing to praise. They are good at correcting the mistakes they created themselves to begin with? I have to try this with my owner... Anyways I'd much prefer better QA and balance efforts, but hell we mostly just accept we are the QA. Fixing bugs is great, not creating bugs(within reason, no one is perfect) is better. Steam doesn't count "off-line" players? Show proof of that.

" LOL of course it counts offline players, how could it be showing 70-90k players over the weekend at a time when the servers had been unavailable for 24 hours. The player count in Steam is the players in game, doesn't matter if they are playing online or offline. Last edited by Randall#0850 on Feb 17, 2020, 1:31:02 PM

" Remember that Wolcen is STEAM only. Path of Exile isnt. Path of Exile has steam version, its own client, has Chinese version, has Taiwanese version, has Xbox and PS4 version. If you would combine all those numbers I wouldnt be suprised if PoE would hit even 500k,, if not more (idk how popular is it in China) Last edited by Aynix#7757 on Feb 17, 2020, 1:47:16 PM

" If you're connected online with Steam and playing a game, and that game is offline or online, Steam will count you as playing the game. However, someone could put Steam in offline mode, which disables a million things and would not count you as playing, but I doubt very many people do that unless their internet is down or they're at a place with no internet |

More people need to understand that the more good arpgs there are competing with each other, the better it is for them as consumers.
Hopefully Wolcen can become something great with time - they certainly made some money - now they need to invest in development and get to work, because the game is still in beta and with bare-bones endgame. |

" so..? you will stay on wolcen and never come back to POE,i guess ? Some people love "slow motion" ARPG , there is no shame ....rofl. learning is a painful process ... knowledge is the most deadly weapon.
