General Discussion - Can we stop pretending that Path of Exile is free to play? - Forum

I'm pretty sure most people who posted a response in this thread has paid for stash tabs. You are extremely gimped if you have just the basic 4 stash tabs. You would have to spend half of your game time on inventory management alone, especially if you plan on mapping. I thought eso without the crafting bag was a nightmare, but holy fuck this game is on an entirely different level. You should be able to buy basic stash tabs with in game currency. . . shit they can even put a cap to how many you can buy. Fortnite and Apex legends are true free to play games. . . core components of these two games are not locked behind pay walls. While poe on the other hand tricks people into thinking its free to play, its more like free to try. If you can play the game for free, its F2P. Doesnt matter if you can buy any convinience for money. Its not MANDATORY. It your own damn choice wheter to pay for it or not. Really glad the General Discussion thread life cycle is alive and well. I wonder which one will come next. "Game is Ded" maybe? Although the new league announcement is coming soon so I would guess the "I'm bitching about something before I know anything about it" threads are coming. Also, I get the impression most people don't know what P2W is. That's probably a good thing because actual P2W is awful. Thanks for all the fish! Do we need to argue this for 6 pages? PoE is 100% "free to play". That however does not mean it is "desired to play with only 4 standard stash tabs". The rest of the mtx is also 100% optional. GGG has to generate revenue with tons of mtx sales or we wouldn't keep getting our next challenge league fix every 3 months (duh). Enough with the stupid bickering. That's literally how you release and market a demo product. The ethics behind the removal of key components and still call it "100% free that will never become pay-to-win" is no better than having dynamic difficulity based on spending, and then calling that not pay-to-win. And where is the line between demo and totally free anyway? As for the standard trolls & white knights that pops in and throw words like cheep and entitled, I don't care that much TBH as I've already paid for my more efficient play. It isn't designed and balanced around stash tabs, it'd be an absolute fucking joke to do Awakener 8 and all the content on the default 4. like 95% of your characters value is in about 1% of the space in your stash, you can still buy stuff with default tabs and thats all you need you can be a hilarious good character on SC for 20c and use the other 3 tabs for your worthless map collection lol like i'm perfectly happy with the statement that Stash tabs are very important and drastically reduce inventory management but the idea the game isn't Free is just wrong and if you think it isn't you've probably never looked at your stash and realized just how little of it you actually need.
