Can we stop pretending that Path of Exile is free to play?
" You REALLY do not get it, do you? First off: A PvP game, be that a MOBA game, FPS game or a looter shooter will ALWAYS have the potential of drawing in a larger crowd than a niche game in a niche genre. And the ARPG Hack'n Slash genre will ALWAYS be a niche genre, especially a grindy game like PoE. The comparison here is just ridiculous. If you don't see that, I don't know what to tell you. You make your F2P model based on several things, including "potential costumers". And if history has thought you anything, you would know that the ARPG Hack'n Slash market is niche. Hell, PoE might be the next biggest success in the history of the genre, and is sitting on a peak under 200k, and an average of merely 50k. And you are comparing that with games peaking at 10-20 million? Fair? Not at all. Could PoE survive just by selling cosmetics? Maybe. Could it grow? Maybe. We do not know. We have no clue. PoE advertises itself as a F2P game because it is a F2P game. Even if you define stash tabs as "P2W", doesn't make PoE any less F2P. Nowhere in the history of definition, does "F2P" mean "No P2W elements". There's a clear distinction between "F2P" and "free". Most people are aware of this, while you seem to struggle. That said, I don't think the stash tabs crosses the "P2W line", but I can understand the opposite view. As someone else would say: Your definition of F2P is so narrow minded. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" lol d3 and skyrim broke top 10 pc games for multiple years. just because you love poe and poe is failing to break that barrier doesnt warrant you to slap hack n slash arpgs or single player games as a "niche" market. poe just sucks in the eyes of most people Last edited by yamface#1022 on Feb 17, 2020, 9:18:10 PM

I have known people who had excell sheets with account + characters which had all of their items on them.
Sombebody should remind me, since when did "more effort" become a valid argument against "F2P". If stashes are convenience purchases, its bassicaly implied in the argument that there is a less convenient way to do the same, thus not restricted by the stash tabs or spending money. These arguments are so redundant and circular in logic. I don't wanna put in the effort therefore the game is not F2P, its such a 2020 line of reasoning it aint even funny. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

Daily reminder that GGG made $800,000 on the Seraph Spectral Throw MTX alone. Confirmed by Chris.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" Did you just put Skyrim and PoE into the same genre to make a point? Such... Desperation. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Right? Plus he chose dumbed down games filled with nothing but easy gameplay and fan-service. Skyrim is to Elder Scrolls what Diablo 3 is to Diablo. They're both pretend additions to the series that barely even fit in their genres. Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

guys what do we do?!?! he brought counter examples to my idea that only pvp games can dominate this much. let me call it desperation and call it dumbed down games with fanservice. There we go! Now it looks like it doesn't count. Btw, let me ignore the d3 mention completely because that completely debunks my idea that pvp games are the only genres that dominate
Oh and I guess games like god of war, a hack n slash PUZZLE game exclusive only to ps4 that still broke sale records, must also not count. Let's see here, we should play a game of how many single player games that hit popularity/sale records to see just how dumb this comment about pvp dominance really is. |

Yeah, I'm not arguing that point. I was just agreeing those were terrible examples. I've never seen a company sell out as hard as Bethesda did with Skyrim.
It's like they completely ignored the existence of the rest of the series and said "What would the majority of people like". Then they proceeded to make a really pretty world, copy/paste a few generic dungeons everywhere, and think of the easiest progression they possibly could that forces you to cheese the hell out of the game. Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

" If someone is saying pvp is one of the defining factors that puts a game at that level of dominance, skyrim is a valid example that says otherwise. D3 is a literal 1:1 genre match. These are not terrible examples. They just happen to debunk a very poorly thought out comment. |

Keep in check Your syllogomania and 4 tabs is more than enought. Hell there is player that finished game without using stash at all.
Stop being needy. |
