Honestly, I used to be really keen to say M&K was the only way but having the possibility for both would be great. Recently, I have played quite a lot of Nioh 2 and I really enjoy the controller, brings me back to my joystick on C64 and NES gamepad roots lol. I would gladly enjoy me some PoE on my TV while sitting / slouching comfortably on my couch.

It won't happen and they stated before with the console releases it won't happen.

The game's controls are dumbed down in the console version to make up for the lack of control options and how some stuff works entirely, and as such the pc version and console version are quite different (which is why the console leagues launch later than pc)

So when the console version came out originally they promised they wouldn't implement the controller support on the pc version because if they did they'd need to do the same thing to the controls on pc to make it work which they didn't want to happen which most of the pc community was happy about at the time (and mostly still are imo)

Actually the devs have already said POE2 will have controller support. Just not at launch, the whole debate about PC gamers and controllers is no longer true. I will copy and paste from a Steam post I made recently:

I've been playing PC games, since before you were born and you had to play PC games in floppy disk before windows was even a thing. You're pulling data out of your ass and you're own ignorance. Do a simple google search before answering with nonsensical data next time.

https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-choose-the-right-game-controller-for-your-pc

"For some games, PC gamers like me prefer to use controllers - especially if it's a 2D platformer or fighting game. Yes, PC gamers do use controllers."

I work for Microsoft, I've been with Microsoft since I graduated from College, I started in the Xbox 360 division, now the Xbox Series X division, we've been doing R and D on controllers for the last 6 years, because of the huge controller demands on PC. Both for recreational purposes and for gamers with disabilities.

Yes it is true in the past, most PC gamers preferred mouse and keyboard, But that has changed in the last few years, as gaming PCs became more accessible and more and more console gamers switch from console to PC. Now a days, its the minority of PC gamers that still use only mouse and keyboard about a 20%.

Ergo why 95% of games have controller support. It's harder now to find a game that doesn't support controller than finding one that does.

And this one is straight from steam.

https://www.nme.com/news/gaming-news/valve-advises-developers-on-controller-usage-after-surprising-stats-revealed-2894862#:~:text=In%20a%20developer%20announcement%20regarding,encourage%20or%20discourage%20controller%20play.

Valve advises developers on controller usage after “surprising” stats revealed
“48 million players have used a controller in a game on Steam”

RTS games are still at a figure “below 1 percent”, whilst fighting games or sport sims account for 70 percent of controller usage. FPS games linger around 7-8 percent, whilst action games played in third-person can be anything up to 50 percent. Skating and racing games were at the top position, with over 90% of gamers using controllers to play.

The demand for controllers is so high, that in fact in this day and age, not having controller support for your game, only hurts you the developer as you will lose out on sales.

Blizzard understands this, hence why they are supporting controller, day 1 at launch.

GGG probably loses a couple of million dollars each year by not having controller support. But it is still their chioce and we have to respect it.

how do you want to make people with controllers collect currency in the pc version?

controller and mouse/keyboard games are incompatible.

the former is "direction and click", the latter is "point and click".

the only thing you win with console support is getting rid of point and click.

and you lose all the players who like point and click.

You do realise there is a console version of PoE, right?
Nowadays game support both, keyboard + mouse and controller.

If you use a button on the controller, it will switch the UI to console version and moving is by the controller stick. If you press a mouse or keyboard button, it switches back PC UI and you can go clicking.

the console version of poe runs on a different realm. completely separated economies.

pc players have to click on currency and shards, consoles hoover currency on button press.

skills that need precise clicks on certain areas of the screen are incompatible with consoles as consoles are just point and click while pc versions can do both. so the console version hasn't got all skills the pc version has as far as i know.

---

you can have your console pc switching only after you dragged all challenging and skill demanding gameplay options down to the inferior direction and click couch potatoe mode of consoles.

I have a series x, i play both PC and console version. Nothing is dumbed down.
There are certain builds that are harder on console, but every build is doable on the console as well. Instead of clicking on the currency, you move close to it and press A on the controller. I know i wont be able to persuade you, because you think controllers are evil and inferior.

But Valve released the statistics that 50 million PC players on steam use some kind of controller. (and this is only steam, it could be higher)

Believe it or not. You are the minority in this case...

Sorry but does that mean that every person owning a gun carries it every day and shoots people regularly in daily interactions?

Steam detects that people have some kind of controllers plugged in not that they prefer to use one whenever possible. There are games where it is reasonable to play with controller, and there are some where it is possible but hardly advised. Out of maybe 12 people I know that have controllers none have used them for anything other than souls likes, platformers and fighting games, or in rare cases racing games.

Feels bad to be in minority duh....
