D3 OR PoE

Perhaps you can clear something up for me. People in the diablo 3 forum said the beta is a small part of the total game and even of act 1.

So maybe there's way more content to Diablo 3?

Theres an abundance of guesses, assumptions and folklore taken as fact. havent seen anything official that states how much of A1 is in the beta other than stating that it goes up to the skeleton king in A1. If you look at any offical statements about the beta or the game, they are incredibly vague.

also the D3 forums look like just a bunch of wow trolls lol.

This is what i fuccccking love. Its DARK, GRIM, high realistic graphic of environment and shadows. If you think D3 is dark, just wait and play PoE to see what really meens to have a dark atmosphere.

No it's not. It's dark in a 'who turned out the fucking lights, I can't see shit' kind of way. Pitch black dungeons with only a small light radius making it hard to navigate and see mobs =/= dark atmosphere.

Dark atmosphere comes from engaging writing, locations, music and COLOR. sorry guys, browns and blacks don't make mood. Learn a thing or two about art. Color sets atmosphere and mood.

As for the OP's question. Diablo 3 hands down. No question. No hesitation. Sure, it will cost you $60.00 up front instead of free, but it will be well worth the investment.

I understand where some people are coming from with the statement that if you're a gamer you play them all. I used to be that kind of gamer, then I grew up and have less time. This means I have to choose where to spend my free time gaming. Can't play them all any more unfortunately.

Completely and utterly false. It has been stated by the Development team (and anyone who can use logical thinking and reasoning) that the Diablo 3 beta is 1/3rd of the first Act. Additionally, they have stated the game is roughly the same "size" or "length" as Diablo 2 (insofar as doing one complete difficulty play through. There is now a 4th difficutly greatly extending the content of the game).

THAT was a whole third of the first act? I'm sorry, but I haven't commented on the longevity of the game in this respect yet. Honestly, I was thinking more a fifth or a quarter. I know it's already looking larger than Act 1 of Diablo 2 but not by all that much, really. The biggest zone felt like the Old Road or whatever it was, or possibly the graveyard. There were a few side-dungeons but not much.

Anyway, a third. Hm.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
I paid $10 for the beta, and I can't really say I didn't get my monies worth out of it. As far as indie games go, this has pretty high production values: smooth combat, nice aesthetically pleasing graphics, models and abilities, as well as enough character customization to really feel involved in your toon.

As others have said, PoE will be f2p, so why not try it regardless? You have nothing to lose but bandwidth.

LOLOLOLO. Man sometimes is better not to talk about art if you don't know a shit about it. You can't see because it's dark? You need story? Lol. Go play fucking doom and tell me do you see a thing, or any other action horror game.

Edit: If you liked d2 and especially d1, there are high chances you will like PoE more that d3

Beta length is like killing the Blood Raven in D2, but beside that D3 has random events almost in every map (like Den of Fallen) that makes even longer the playthrough.

But he was pretty much right.. color palette is not making dark and grim game. Even Doom was very very colorful yet it has very grim and dark mood.

Story is one of these things which can keep horror atmosphere...so yes...story is important too ..but not mandatory I guess.

Hrm ... Maybe I might make my in game item kill anyone who mentions D3 in the forums ...

Look drop it!

Buy both play both play one no one cares, live your own life it is so simple!
