Having us kill civilians in Oriath Square is tasteless.
So maby start from the beginning - what "real" means?

"I would say there's unrealised potential for one, for sure. But what I said was that there's no coherent message, and I stand by that. As I said, even a couple of zones earlier there are 'friendly' Karui slaves. We aren't challenged to not kill them in order to show our humanity - why not, if there's supposed to be something being said here? Same for wandering animals etc, let alone the hugely unnecessary amount of "bandits" etc we murder. The game shows zero interest in interrogating the player's choices around killing at any other point, happily rewarding us for hunting down and slaughtering creatures and people alike even if we didn't remotely need to do so, and this undermines any potential the Oriath Square scene may have as the narrative device you're describing. If there is intended to be a message it comes across as completely insincere. "Hear hear. "They're not real" is tiresome nothingness. Surely nobody saying this actually thinks that criticising fiction equals thinking it's reality? In which case it's just explicitly trolling, right guys? |

Imagine being such a special snowflake who gets upset over a few imaginative pixels.
It's a god damn video game. Play Animal Crossing if you're upset over imaginative violence in a video game about cruel gods, sacrifice and torment. |

" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_4p8pnYzyE https://poedb.tw/us/mon.php?n=Frightened+Citizen Guess they are mostly for cosmetic purposes since they do the same shite as spectres (running away). Another problem would be the desecrate mob table, since Oriath Square is based on campaign progress. Maybe you can still resummon them in the same map in which they died? Masterpiece of 3.16 lore "A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks Last edited by gandhar0#5532 on Dec 21, 2019, 5:39:57 AM

" I say its good they are busying themselves with insignificant issues. Let them talk about video games and keep them away from the media and the government. |

When you arrive in Oritah, the city is in a state of rebellion. Without your consent (at least not clearly portrayed) you're put on the slave side. The Oriathan citizens are enemies of the slaves. so indirectly your enemies too. Also, it's all out war, and like it or not, in war innocents die.

"I've always considered myself more of as tree-hugging pantywaist. Seriously though, I know they're pixels and no one really gets hurt but it bothers me, Why? I don't know, I feel what I feel. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I love being in the Dungeon map, and in some cases, you can throw Flamethrowers Traps through locked doors and the mobs can't get to you. I'll throw a few traps through the door and burn the mobs to a crisp while eating potato chips. If I could spank it to the sounds of their screams I probably would. Why? I don't know. I feel what I feel. I don't try to figure it out otherwise, I'd end up curled up in my room in a fetal position. But, back to the topic at hand. Why are the people in the square killable? I don't know but every single time I go in there I try not to kill them....until the stupid asses get in my way and they have to die too. I make it quick though. Arguing on the Internet: What's the point when you can't punch them in the face when they really piss you off?

Every time I get to those civs I take off all my gear, re-equip the very first starting sword the game gives me, pen them in with Frost Wall equipped in that sword and hunt them down. All that lack of gear makes sure I get a few wacks in, ya know, to savor their fear.

" Well...at best philosophers are considered superfluous, but nonetheless...that the majority of people are sheep like and rather easily influenced should be somewhat obvious to even the moderately insightful. As someone who is old enough to have seen what "content" is acceptable to feed the populace at large change dramatically from my parents time to my children's time, I would be on the side of being wary of even seemingly "little" things such as killing innocents in a video game. Now, though I recognize that the majority of people have it within themselves to know the difference between cartoon violence and more serious behaviors, there is a significant subset that do not which can be witnessed by the regular occurrences of mass shootings in America for example. The right thing to do would be to make Oriathan citizens nontargetable. |

So you are ok with killing innocent animals (like apes)? Invading tribes and eradicate them? Defile graves and eating corpses? Watching people slowly burn to death? Using biological weapons (like Chaos Damage)?
Please keep your Double Standards in check. If you can't differentiate between reality and fiction or if you are offended by fictional content then you shouldn't play such games at all. |
