"No Dead Babies" Option, Please

Not all games are designed for everyone, this game is great because it doesn't hold back, the more gore the better!

...if the content is to mature for children simply keep them away simple as that

I say simply add a slider to increase or decrease the number of dead babies. Then both sides will be happy. (^.^)

At least I'd finally get to use this dead baby shader on my new video card.

Genuinely hilarious.
Can we get an option for more dead babies?

Rofl.

But seriously, if you let your 9-year old kid see this game you're doing it wrong. Go out with your kid and play outside. That's what my parents did with me.

And leave us adults with our juvenile enjoyement of blood and gore alone.

:p
Ppl who got a problem with any features of this game shouldnt play it. I love the gore effects and this is what a hack&slash genre game need.
To the original poster -

I respectfully disagree with all the points in your post.

The gore is part of the realism (in a dark fantasy environment)of the game. Whether it is the gritty texture of the sand on the beach, the sound effects, or the slow pace of running - POE seems to be striving for a game world where the player can find immersion. In movie theaters - they use special effects for the same purpose - suspension of disbelief. While a director of a movie can definitely use suspense and suggestion to accomplish as much or more horror than just showing gore, a video game is interactive, and replaying similar scenarios devalues "suggestion" as a source of horror.

It would be like facing Brutus for the first time and instead of him actually hitting your character and doing damage, you only had a foreshadowing of the hit and then a text box popped up and said "Physical violence is about to occur would you like to flee or try to peacefully resolve the situation?"

It's an interactive combat game with a dark gruesome environment. I think the level of gore is somewhat restrained in the game.

I can understand and respect that other players may not like that, but expecting the game company to cater to them with limited resources isn't fair to the majority of players who prefer the game the way it is.

The initial post on supporting Path of Exile mentions that "extra gore" will be a purchaseable option. Perhaps GGG will make "Less Gore" a purchaseable item and for a reasonable number of credits, players such as yourself can financially support the kind of game development they prefer.

As for the appeal of slasher/horror movies - I don't see the appeal of romance movies, and find it reprehensible when a non-romance movie injects a romance into the film just to appease part of the audience. An example would be Alien and Terminator. The romance was integral to the plot of the latter movie, but not Alien. If Alien were being made for the first time today, a romance would eat up 1/3 of the film's plot and screen time.

"But the gratuitous dead baby on the starter beach? Seriously?"

For the game genre, it is no more "gratuitous" than the gratuitous beach wavs lapping at the shore, or the gratuitous starfish.

IMO (I do respect that each parent has their own views and makes their own decisions about what is best):

A nine year old shouldn't be anywhere near a video game - maybe a small exception for educational games if the child is struggling with a topic. The child should be playing with siblings a friend or their parent(s).
Even if location/situation etc doesn't allow other activities and gaming is the interaction you choose then
board games, card games, physical games all can be much more rewarding time spent in front of a screen. Whether its a simple card game like Scat or getting some people to play Twister or Monopoly, you are interacting face to face and with each other.

Unless you find the cure for cancer or some other world changing effort, raising your child(ren) properly is the most important thing you will ever do with your life.

Your nine year old will be a thirteen year old, and then a 17 year old about to become and adult in no time at all. Don't look back and wish you had that time to redo again.
