You can't compare 'deepness'. You can add as many useless affixes as you want, it won't make the system deeper. You can add as many useless sets as you want, it won't make it deeper either. Pesonal question to developers and watching hilarius rage of fanboys that think that this game is perfect, item system is better and deeper than D2LOD after 13 patches and treates it like untouchable holy relic. Also as i say its good to get reminder how crappy all earlier HnS games was until brilliant POE comes. Everybody knows that D1/2, TQ, IT, Sacred, Torchlight 2 are all crappy and unsuccesfull games with super shallow item systems and all machanics like gear customization is not needed in HnS game. Yea? Not like POE with it superior casino style slot machines called crafting.
Also to show that compared side by side with other games item system in Poe IS NOT COMPLEX. IS NOT DEEP. IT DOESNT ALLOW MUCH SPACE FOR CUSTOMIZATION AND EXPERIMENTS. As i say place for ideas is somewhere else. There is much room to improve. I must also say that some ppl reactions to arguments and examples are beyond my imagination lol. The place for suggestion is in a different forum. Here it´s a place of discussion. But that doesn´t mean that suggestions and discuse or even the forums are mutually exclusive. What i don´t understand is, there are very good threads in the suggestion forum with developer response about some ideas of new item mechanics. Was you not able to find them or just to lazy? If you just wanted a response from developers they are there. When you look at raw item design with affixes, sockets and mechanics they are simple. The orb system though is a addition that is unique under HnS. The real power or fun of PoE lies in a total different area though. Skills and skilling with item mechanic of the socket system.
