Online multi-player games
Manipulation of Direct3D libraries in multi-player games may be considered cheating and can get your account banned. This may also apply to single-player games with an embedded or dedicated multiplayer portion. Use at your own risk.

Be careful exiles.

While Indeed you should be careful, I don't believe anyone would face ban in this case.

This warning is there because some games are monitoring for custom graphic libraries for wallhacks for example.

However, the Linux players are using exactly this "workaround" for years to be able to play the game, and I haven't seen single case that someone was banned. Also, this topic is still monitored by GGG employees and if the workaround would be "bad" they would already posted discouraging post.

They add auto pick up this week, so you can not avoid the crashes any further. I know it´s shocking how they ignore that issue, but ya, just want to warn you, incase you invest time and money, it might not last long.
This Vulkan workaround does weird thing. I unpacked and put all correct files in game folder. However, every time I'm trying to launch PoE client doesn't show off, yet at once in Task Manager I see PoE process running and using almost twice as much resources as usual and shutting itself down after one minute.

If you had crashed before trying the workaround, you have to reboot. Also, I would recommend to change to windowsed or "windowed fullscreen" mode as fullscreen has issues before applying workaround. Otherwise sorry. While this workaround should work for most of the people there can be cases when this does not work for some :(

If they indeed add auto-pickup before fixing this crash, they will make a lot of people really angry. I hope the devs are sane and will not add it until this issue is officially addressed.

In case they would add it without fixing, I would make some custom installation archive to setup this vulkan workaround along with some additional tuning. (thanks to reports, I might have found a way how to make vulkan work much faster (even faster than native DirectX 11 for some poeple), with almost no stuttering, but it requires further testing)

Vulkan Workaround for AMD crashes (thanks to Svazzz)
Download dx->vulkan translation layer
https://github.com/Joshua-Ashton/d9vk/releases/download/0.40.1/d9vk-0.40.1.tar.gz
Unpack all *dll files from x64 (or x32 if you run 32bit windows) directory into Path of exile directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile or \Steam\steamapps\Path of exile (or whatever steam uses). Note, .tar.gz is native Linux archive format but almost any normal archive manager should be able to handle it.

video proof on Old fields (I had 100% crash rate at this location before):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCdlDjO6tNM

To revert the workaround, simply delete the the copied files from the game directory.

Note: As the game runs with this under Vulkan instead of DirectX, the shaders are recompiled on the go. This means every first time you encounter something new, there will be FPS drop (can be massive lasting 2 seconds if lot of new things are introduced) . This will significantly improve the longer you play (restarting game is no problem). But still this is not recommended for HC players

Running a 2070 w/AMD 3700X. Been trying everything under the sun to stop the crashes, to no avail.

Initial results for the Vulkan workaround are positive (no crashes in the same span of time where I'd get one,) but yeah the FPS hitches are nasty.

I'll take it for now though.

I had fps hitches with the x64 version too. So I switched to the x32 version and everything runs smoothly so far.
