Death penalty is the only thing that keep people from not going full glass cannon in softcore . It will be bad without it. It makes you invest some thinking into how to balance a build .

" I love random percents and absolute statements that are Kellyanne Conway level facts. You're not supposed to like the penalty on death; that's the point of it being a penalty. You can respond to it by getting better, giving useful feedback, accepting your skill level or quitting.....or another option: don't adapt, don't quit and claim false facts and false statistics on the forum to support your position. 103% of people agree with me. Exp penalty in current state is detrimental to the game, once you hit high 90's. Some kind of change is a must. Not saying to remove it, it's important for there to be penalty for dying. But right now on low levels it's irrelevant and on very high levels it's too harsh and discourages doing any hard content.

Well XP loss is nothing compared to losing your entire character. Seems like an easy win.

They could improve the Death Penalty:
When you die you must kill your murderer to get your exp back. But if you die again before killing him you lose it (Dark Souls Style). This would give everyone a second chance and deaths because of lag wouldn't be so bad anymore. |

" Ah yes, I'm sure that's what GGG wants. For people to quit. And there is no doubt many do, because this game is all about progression of character. Once there is no progression people get bored and quit. This is kinda solved by hardcore because if you're dying then you're always progressing. But in softcore it's actually worse because you can be essentially stuck with no means to progress other than gear. So people either quit or roll new char, essentially killing their character. I personally agree that there's still needs to be some kind of penalty, so it encourages investing into tankiness on builds. Someone mentioned something ala dark souls where you can get xp back if you get back to the area/kill monster.
