Did the PoE 4.0 announcement meet your expectation?

No AH, no improvements to Path of Alttabing trading, no in game loot filter... so a bit dissapointed here. Guess is D4 for me.
I was pleased, was just expecting an overhaul in the animations and graphics, received an overhaul in the system and a new story.Also a confirmation that even if by MTX means that we will have more customization options for the exiles.

Feedback: Hope they review the new exiles appearance in general since GGG confirmed they are different people from the exiles of PoE 1. Just to have a distinction or have an option between classics and new exiles. The more customization the merrier.
It exceeded mine. I was almost convinced that the talk about the "great" 4.0 was just that, all talk; and we would get a new endgame or something (exactly what 3.9 is).

So yeah, I expected far less than what we're getting. A pleasant surprise for sure.

both campaigns will have the same engine and character models.
campaign one/ act one will be changed to new graphics next legue and by the time 4.0 is released the whole 10 act/campaign one will look different in graphics and engine changed.

new art style: really good

new ascend opts: really good (one is called Survivalist? hell yeah heh)

new campaign: good

boss design: really good

new power creep: bad (at interview they say they want to fix the power creep from 3.9 on and so they are introducing way more? interesting logic)

new plus gems: bad, just call them Primal Support gems

shapeshifting: good

bow melee: wtf?

loading screens: disappointed (was hoping for a response to D4's Seamless Exploration tech)

chris wilson holding back tears after trailer: emotional

I can’t buy any more big supporter packs because the forum only supports showing 7 legacy tags.
I am not sure about POE dominating the ARPG genre, I still think that Diablo, Sacred and a few others have a say there too.

That being said, it is a very good game in some aspects, while it misses out on others.

Right now, no new trade system has been announced, which is a big issue to me. Also the item clutter and stash problem with all the new leagues has not been adressed yet, three of the main concerns within the community.

Based on the pictures it looks as if DX12 found its way into the game, but that is just my impression, based on what I saw.

New acts are nice, but that was to be expected. New classes seem cool, not sure why shapeshifting is coming, is that some kids hype thing I missed, like mobile gaming?

Anyways, I like the new gem system, but I did hope we get something new for mapping. New affixes and suffixes, mechanics... but it seems we won´t? Time will tell, the game is free, so it´s worth trying I suppose.
I was basically expecting a full endgame revamp mostly, and only some characters visual improvement for 4.0, but the endgame will come with 3.9 and maybe other next expensions, so all good.

The new acts looks insane, the revamped Lioneye's watch preview too so for the graphics and animations, a complete 10/10, still dark, more detailed, more violent but also a bit more saturated at the same time ? (more light contrast), it just look gorgeous.

The 6L gems sockets,, its gonna be a hell for them to balance and adjust all the cards/items/prophecies and so depending of the old system.
But more options for us if done correctly.

The way they want to make it more "easy visualy" for new players and still retains the depth of the game is the good move here.

For the *2 ascendency, also gonna be a hell to balance, i would have prefer a revamp and expension of the old ones, less "more" mini-tree but with more choices.

The "make the acts harder" is i think an illusion since well, the act 1-3 always feels harder (we got no gear) and they said they got it specialy hard for the convention, but i really hope all those bosses encounters and some rare ones too are gonna take more time, complexe bosses feels great. I would have made them even more mandatory for maps, something like :

"Everything you kill on maps is gonna loot only after you kill the map Boss as a big loot in the Boss room, and 15% of maps is focus on Boss fight to deliver more epicness and slow a bit the pace of the game, making them harder, epic and deadly."

Since the new Bosses looks really deadly and detailed, and their attack more.. impactfull and strategic (until you can roll over but... thats another topic)

Really a great ExilCon and impressive work.

Blew me away! I knew there would be improvements to graphics, animations, lighting and models (which all looked stunning!) and likely some new content but I did not expect something on the scale of what they revealed. A whole new campaign, 19 new ascendancies, reworked socket system, meta skills, a new weapon type. It's going to be a new era for PoE and I think it will become greater than ever.
Looks good to me but of course wont know until I play it.

We get higher end graphics, more content basically a whole new game, and I kinda liked the longer haul fights I was seeing from the videos since power creep is off the charts nowadays. We will see.

Anyway was enough for me to say D4 who? RIP
Git R Dun!

I found 4.0 pretty weak actually, a "huge expansion that would fix all the game problems" was what was being implied. And even tough i like the new graphics and the new skills. (new ascendencies and acts are completely whatever for me). None of the major flaws of the game seem to be worked on.

Poe Endgame has been expanding only horizontally for a long time now, so i thought 4.0 would be a good moment to expand it vertically, maybe make maps and items scale up to level 100, and create some really tough bosses to replace uber elder, basicaly give something for the powercreep to fight against, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be in their plans in the near future (maybe 5.0 i guess).

So they also announced a bunch of new item types, currencies, more gem trading (now that you will need to buy your 6l gems). Basically more a bunch of things that you will have to trade for. But,unsurprisingly, they didn't have any plans to make trading less awful.

Then comes the gameplay speed. We could say PoE playerbase is divided in between two extremes, we have in the left the "every fight need to be as tough as uber elder for me to be happy" and in the right the "if i could enter the map, and all monsters explode immediately and i pick all my loot i would be happy", the game has been pushing more and more towards the right side crowd. Maybe 4.0 could have been the turning point for that, adding something for the left crowd, especially with the new atlas they designed that would open up room for something like:

Tainted Orb> all maps in the region are tainted.
Tainted maps have the following base values: (plus whatever you roll in the map)
1- Players and Monster deal 300% less damage;
2- Players and Monsters have 99.9% less leech, regen and es recharge;
3- Players and Monsters can always suffer ailments;
4- Mob density reduced by 100%;
5- Item quantity raised by "x"; (x equals the same quantity need on average for "x" to have the same drop average of normal maps.

This way players would be able to choose if they want mindless farming(right crowd) or tough fights (left crowd), and since both give almost the same rewards/time, you lose nothing if you choose one or the other.
