Did the PoE 4.0 announcement meet your expectation?
Considering I am usually the one to criticize GGG for its business decisions and game design I was satifsfied with the whole exilecon thing and the 4.0 announcement. It sounds promising. Of course I m still skeptical but I do have some hope. I ll patiently wait a year to see what the next version of Poe can bring to the table. The only thing that I m mostly concerned about is the balance and power creep, GGG have not been performing well to address those issues and even if they rebalance everything right by the time 4.0 comes out, I m afraid 2 years later, in 2023 all the content that they made will yet again become meaningless due to power creep

Far exceeded expectations.
I just hope the new physics and lighting system wont hurt performance and that performance in general is going to be continously addressed because none of this matters if players are still playing at half their normal fps anytime something happens on screen. IGN: Arlianth

" I know what I meant is more of a lore fundamental. You have the first campaign that is the current PoE and in PoE 2 you will have a new campaign, though the characters you can select in PoE 2 in lore they are different characters from PoE 1. I was hoping to see a fundamental change to the characters in PoE 2 to actually be acknowledged they are different people. Ranger looks like a clone from 1 lol. |

" they are the same in both, you just chose if you are 40 years old or 20 :) caus new campaign is 20 years later by the storyline. you get same things but your mtx will just fit better cause skeletons from old exiles were not so good. 3d art for specific stuff is for money cause in reality an exile is not really fabulous looking after they get washed on a shore :) Last edited by BlackPulsar#5393 on Nov 18, 2019, 9:23:01 AM

" Did GGG say PoE 2 is going to use a different game engine or that they are seriously addressing bad quality of play in any way? Of course not! Did any one asking questions in any of the interview type segments ask the tough questions about QoP problems. No! GGG says nothing on what they are doing to fix QoP because they have no solution. GGG picked Softlayer as their game host and that means we're stuck using Networklayer fiber that is frequently overloaded and slowing play (lags and stutters) or dropping PoE data packets (freezing and DCs). GGG being too financially poor in the beginning lead to their poor choice for hosting PoE worldwide and we all will suffer bad QoP forever because of Softlayer/Networklayer. Putting a shiny new coat of paint on PoE with a new campaign, changing the socket mechanics, 19 new ascendancies, etc. won't fix Internet data flow problems that result in bad QoP. GGG's home rolled little game engine that could just can't and placing more load on it will be "the straw that broke the camels back." So ya, in some ways PoE 2 was over-hyped but I totally expected that. The look is great but if game play is still the same poor/bad QoP then it won't matter how good it looks. Edit: Seeing and watching the pre-keynote with Kripparian, ZiggyD, and TarkeCat (he does need to exercise more, too much computer gaming) was fantastic. Sitting at my gaming rig in SW Florida Friday afternoon watching ExileCon in real time Saturday morning in NZ without any video lag (once they got the message and turned up the volume on their mics) was a special treat for all PoE fans and especially all veteran players like me. The keynote was nice too but I've listened to Chris on Baeclast podcasts enough times over the years to not be impressed or disappointed. I didn't know it was a thing for fans to be waiting for Chris to say "I'm Chris Wilson from Grinding Gear Games" but apparently we've come to expect him to always say that at the beginning of any talking about PoE. I think he did well under the bright lights (his makeup was done well to keep his head from being a shining ball). Jonathan err... well... is Jonathan and talked a mile a minute as usual (I've watched him on Baeclast to know that's his normal speaking). Maybe it's his uber enthusiasm or just the way he is when nervous but he does speak too fast. Seeing/hearing some of the other top GGG people talk about the parts of PoE they work on was also great. The race finals were loads of fun too (62 minutes from start to act 5 Kitava kill is just insane and showed just how bad speed creep has gotten. I got a big LOL near the end when a freeze up caused one of the racers to die). Overall I have to give GGG two thumbs up on Exilecon. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. Wildly exceeded my expectations. The graphics are better than what I expected they would be able to do. That they are working on updating current MTX and items for 4.0 so you don't look like a clown in comparison was a pleasant surprise.
I like the idea with the gems being the 6L since it will enable builds that don't currently exist. All melee will be able to rock 6l counterattack gems which is HUGE, I feel people aren't realizing how big of a buff that will be. I like that they are going to continue to make expansion content more challenging. As a standard only player I like the PLUS gem concept since for too long empower has been free power to casters with no melee gem equivalent. Honestly, I've felt that the arpg market is GGG's to lose and with this they pretty much guarantee that whatever the competition does won't matter. PoE is just too good. |

I must say I’m pretty satisfied with what I’ve seen so far. But PoE2 is still far away.. Can’t wait for 3.9, that’s looks promising too. Will c in one month;)

" I am more excited by diablo4 because I have not played Diablo since early D3 release. But I am quite confident, I'll play POE2 more and longer than D4. |
