Did the PoE 4.0 announcement meet your expectation?

I was hoping for a new type of final boss since shaper/uber elder does just not live up to that title anymore, once you figure out how the fight works.
So technically 3.9 already met my expectations but I'm certainly hyped for 4.0 or "PoE2" aswell since the graphical overhaul is just stunning aswell as having a new campaign to play is going to be great aswell since the old 10 acts are starting to get quite annoying. Although I suppose this new mega-random-generation might help with those aswell.
Was hoping they would dump the 3 month cycle for something a lot less powercreepy.
@OP:
It really succeed my expectations and I really love it! 7 new acts = love
Will PoE 2 continue to dominate the ARPG market? No one can tell because we haven't seen poe 2, diablo 4 or other new arpgs right now but I'm pretty sure that poe 2 will still be a big thing.

- 19 new ascendancy classes? I like.
- Shapeshifting? I like
- Graphical overhaul? I like.
- New campaign making leveling feel fresh? I like.
- A lot of new tile sets/bosses resulting in new maps? I like.
- New skill system? I like VERY MUCH!
+ Probably a couple of surprises we don't know about yet.

And I expected new end game content, and they gave us that - even BEFORE 4.0 - hell, already next month, so. Yes, my expectations were met. If they managed to do some performance improvements too, I'm totally sold. If someone felt that they "overhyped" 4.0, I really don't think they know how much work going into new acts, new 2D and 3D models for ALL items, new monsters, animation and bosses. It's one thing to say "they overhyped it" than to say "I let myself get overhyped".
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

The difference is though. Besides the amazing trailer. Nobody said Diablo 4 is so huge that it needs to be announced at its own Convention. Nobody hyped up Diablo 4 at all.

for a old poe player this is huge (for me)... for a guy who plays 10 games and is just trying this one, maybe he does not understand the complexity of the changes made but even just watchign the gameplay and graphics... it is still the best arpg, why would you not hype it.

I'm not really sure if it -is- the best. It is a great ARPG no doubt and has lots of unlocked potential and is the most frequently updated. But it is also often a buggy mess and has way too many particle effects on the screen. Grouping is an absolute nightmare because of that and its loot system. I can say that poe is my favorite ARPG Sure, but speaking from a perspective that is unbiased I'm not sure I can call it the best.. Every 3 months it enters a state of such unpolished gameplay that it is effectively an Alpha or Beta.

GGG does not say it cause it would be bad presenting the game that way but they do know about the bugs and are always fixing them, the bugs are not that big i have not been bothered much by them, i've had worse experiences with literally any other game regarding bugs

the end game can be changed freely with each new expansion, no worries for that.
mechanics and build design are awesome :)

How do you feel about PoE 2 so far, comparing it to past mega-expansions?

I feel really good about it. GGG seems to realise the game is showing it's age so they've responded to that. I particularly like that they're not only having a new engine, models, etc. but they're going to be applying the new stuff to PoE 1 over time

Did it meet or succeed your expectations, did it surprise you?

I went in with no expectations and was more than surprised. I'm excited for PoE's future

"
Do you think PoE 2 will continue to dominate the ARPG market?

I think PoE 2 will always have it's place, but I'm not naive and realise there are a lot of ARPG's coming that will take people away for however long. But people will always come back though; the game [PoE] has that draw and charm due to it's diversity and complexity

Don't be ridiculous... PoE wont be around forever. It might last a hell of a long time, but it's just not going to be here 20 years from now. It's going to look "quaint" by standards that aren't even predictable yet.
It's seems to be better than what we got in 2.0 and 3.0. That is, If those new classes will be diffrent enough from ones that already exist (instead just renaming it)
