did you notice in that link that he didnt even start working on diablo 3 until after it was released?

jay wilson was the head guy for diablo 3, and the senior game designer under him was wyatt cheng. Jay wilson then left blizzard and went to live in a cave where arpg fans couldnt throw socks full of shit at him all day and josh mosqueria took over as the guy in the hotseat for the reaper of souls expansion. Then mosqueria left blizzard and wyatt cheng went off to do diablo immortal. From the looks of things this joe shelly character worked under mosqueria on reaper of souls.

if the game was on our pcs being played before he even started working on it though its safe to say it wasnt really his fault i think. The people responsible for d3 were chased to the hills and other people replaced them, and then those people were mostly replaced so youll have people who are technically in senior positions in the diablo 3 team who essentially had no control at all of the direction the game took, theyre just inheriting the disaster and caretaking its slow death, seeing what they can learn for the next diablo game.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Going on what I've seen with D4 GGG's next move does not have to be a big one.

The systems and features panel in around 12 hours will seal my conclusion.

The gameplay from what we know has a casual skill system, so already it's not a good sign.

lol @ anyone thinking POE is in trouble if D4 can't even remotely match the mechanics/gameplay/itemization/economy.

We'll know by the end of the day, I am going to bet the systems/features reveals will paint an ultra casual/mobile environment for D4, but I'd love to be wrong.

I'm sure you can do better than that with the mobile meme still in 2020 stranger.

also, if 4.0 client still performs like 3.X (like a piece of shit lets call things by their name) how it's going to be better than current diablo? granted TencentGGG has been working on 4.0 for almost 1 year+ and it might be released on december 2020 while still doing some damage control posts here and there.

who cares about "complex" systems if your game runs like shit because it's full of unnecesary things all happening at once?

better pray that they drop the "testing" ground with leagues because I'm not sure some people will be happy until the "savior 4.0" arrives..

poe0.2/10. Nuff said.

D4 seems like the World is like in Lost Ark.
PoE will finaly have a competitor wich is a good thing.
Competition brings better content and better service.

also i have to admit, PoE is starting to become very boring after 1 week of the new League. basicly there are a few archetypes that feel different to play and they have not changed. when did PoE get any of the good features lately besides league mechanics?

4.0 will be a hit or miss
what i expect is UI Overhaul
More Zoom out
complete overhaul of the Endgame
complete rebalance of the Powercreep items aka HH, Farruls Fur,... (90% of current Uniques feel just like useless items)
If 4.0 plays as rough as the game currently does at times, I can easily see people heading to D4 in droves. As much as I love PoE, constant performance issues make it hard for me to push the game on friends, and frustrate me constantly. I am more intrigued by D4 the more details that emerge.

We want to simplify stats - David Kim

https://clips.twitch.tv/HotSleepyMageCharlietheUnicorn
Figuring out the scaling and stats is a huge part of the fun. Please dont dumb down game systems.

A lot of people noticed the itemization so far looks kinda underwhelming and the legendaries pretty much look like D3 ones minus the main stats.
Offensiv and defensiv stats are simplified into Attack and Defense values. While this system mostly represent the previous mainstats, it is still replaces one broken system with another one.
Also so many legendaries are class specific or enhance specific skills. Thats the stuff you put into your talent/skill system.

According to the Q&A all the "Rune Words" are made out of 2 runes, which is always a trigger and an action. Sounds like a good system but kind of a nostalgia bait since it has nothing in common with the old system besides the rune names.
And again spells and attacks are the same thing. Weapon types dont even have an individual attack time and there is no distinction within the weapon class. Having different base items for the same weapon/armor type is very importent in an RPG.

Both the Q&A during Quins and Rhykkers stream implied that the current itemization is what they want to go forward with and it isnt just a placeholder.
It is very importent to give our feedback at this stage of the development. There is still hope for this game to become a worthy successor with more polished skilltrees, more skills and a proper itemization.

Taken from a reddit post, I really fear for poe with innovative atk and def on items

On end game - They want there to be a variety of activities. World bosses are one example. Key dungeons are another. Key dungeons are inspired by greater rifts and will be another end game activity. Different system than greater rifts. Key dungeons don't scale infinitely, but scale to an extent that there is no concern about reaching the max. There are hundreds of dungeons in the world. At max level, you get keys, and those keys will be for a specific dungeon. The key when used transforms the dungeon into a max level dungeon and has a rank on it, and that rank increases the difficulty of the dungeon. The key has affixes on it, the affixes add mechanics to the dungeon, boss fights, etc.

Sounds like map system in poe anyone?
