So PoE Zombies are Feral Ghouls?

As references or placeholders yeah. But just one being more obvious ones seemed something you'd expect to some Korean MMO.

You can find little easter eggs like this in games, and other media such as movies for sure, all the time. It's rarely an effort to rip off someone else's work and instead it's a discrete way to pay tribute to it.

Cool idea - copy other people's work and if anyone notices, just call it an "easter egg".
Easter egg is a tribute to something through a mean, if they wanted to tribute fallout's ghoul you'd put an atomic symbol somewhere, or a bobblehead (doesn't need to be fallout's bobblehead).

Literally copy and pasting assets from another game isn't easter egg, it isn't tributing anything, it's just stating "You did better than us, so we'll get yours instead of creating ours".

Same thing with copying a brand's name/logo to sell your products.

Er... no. Totally not the same.
Haven't seen GGG advertising the game with this picture. It's been in the game since November 2018 and only now someone spotted it.
That's totally different from creating a product and slapping a brand name/ logo you don't own the rights to on it.

How many unique ways are there to do a zombie? Once they're all used up is everyone obligated to never make zombie IP for the rest of time lest they hurt your feelings?
Some people posting here do not seem to realize now serious this issue is.

It's not just similar, it's the same model in a different light.
I still don't think it's a big issue.

Nice find but devs do this all the time in all games.

Doesn't make it right. What if Diablo 4 comes out using the new PoE Clown MTX assets? ='[.]'=

FO3 prolly stole their asset from L4D, and they prolly stole their's from a snuff film. Who cares?

impressive of them to steal assets from a game that came out almost month after fallout 3
It appears the image was lifted from the Fallout Wiki, recolored, given additional images in the background, and then slapped on the PoE wiki...

This is "A Bad Thing To Do ™."

As far as I know, the image is not an in-game asset from either IP. That it is a render of a 3D asset isn't at issue at the moment. The provenance comes from the Fallout Wiki, first, and it doesn't reach into the "sold" in-game assets within PoE. ie: It's a wiki to wiki copy/paste job with someone learning Paintshop... This does not count as an artwork that has undergone major alterations or one that is being used in artistic interpretation or colloquial commentary.

Well, at least it's just Blizzard that now has at least a legal right to issue a Cease and Desist order, if not seeking monetary compensation in damages.

If it belonged to Disney, we wouldn't be playing PoE anymore.

Dear GGG,

Police up your stuff...

The person responsible for this needs a stern talking-to and their previous work needs to be examined for further infringements. Continued acts such as this could expose GGG to severe civil penalties. Certainly, a few minor annoyances and formal notices of intent if nothing else. If you like paying lawyers, keep it up. You won't be paying them for long, though.

But, hey, it's your company. If you don't mind employees ripping off other game developers and artists...

PS - GGG, how many of your images could be fed through a simple Image Search? You realize you've just given people a reasonable cause to do so, right? How many of those images in that wiki are ripped off from people who actually own the rights to them? You guys better order some pizza 'cause you're going to be up late.

Note: AFAIK, Fallout 3 et al has full first-publication rights to the asset/image in question.
