Quit PoE today

If you don't have fun, quit. Easy as that.

Every game has reasons people quit, PoE isn't any better. Your 11th reason actually made me glad you are quitting. The other reasons? Made invalid by the 11th.

To be fair, I agree with some, disagree with some - but I'm still having fun.

The 11th one was a jest ;) OR was it now... lol
some comments,

game gets more convoluted is true, complexity is added which is bad for new players but longterm players like you should be able to handle it.
ggg ever handled new content in a way that players needed to explore the depths of a new mechanic themselves.

since the beginning of the game, ggg did meta shifts so players weren't encouraged to play the same builds every league. they can't have their externalised streaming advertise department recommend the same builds 3 leagues in a row.

of course are mtx sales shifted with the meta. for one, players begged them fr it (cause ggg thought it's unethical first), it also makes no sense to sell them anticyclical business wise. but when it comes to supporting the game you play you also don't seem to be the brightest candle on the christmas tree, so no surprise there and no huge loss for ggg either.

sceen clutter is a thing and you're totally right criticising it.

if you watched the gdc presentation of chris, the 3 month cycle is the one making the game profitable, others don't.
i also think a 4 month cycle with more testing would be better. also changed mechanics to keep players playing in the league for longer, like cyclical improvements of a league during it's run.

their rendering engine ever ran fine for me, on the same 5 year old i7, 8GB ram, ssd and a gtx780 which i later upgraded to a gtx1070

build diversity is a thing, i blame streamers, PoB and easy sharing for the resulting herd mentality

lab sucks? really? it's only a short episode in your builds life. you don't have to permanently run it.

i don't comment on the auction house. player interaction isn't sweet, it's to prevent players from selling junk. which obviously works in your case :)

and lastly, you can't blame them for permanently trying to upgrade their complete code, mechanics and other tech. a game that isn't permanently improved is dead.
of course do they do mistakes, introduce bugs and other fuckups. it's software!

ok, that maybe came off more harsh than intended. sorry if something insulted you, thanks for posting your opinion and good luck in other, less complicated games.

Hey.

So i'll start off saying that i have played with ons and offs since 2.2 (perandus), when i started playing the game in standard. Later on i moved to leagues and have done 36/40 or more in a bunch of them by now. I ain't here to hate on the game, because i obviously enjoyed it and had fun and put proper effort into it (and some currency)...but now i feel like it's time to quit. There are several main reasons for this and i will point them out in a simple list below. These are in no particular order.

Have fun all!

I can't say I disagree with most, if not all your issues. While I have no intention to leave, as I am still having fun, I can't really blame anyone that does.

GGG had doubled down on bringing in crazy new stuff, while not really fixing the problems that have been here since Closed Beta. I know as I have been here, since then. Maybe, 4.0 will fix a lot of them and that is what they are gambling on. However 4.0 could still be a 1+ years away from even closed beta.

I have said it many times, that they need to just have legacy league, every once in a while versus a new league. That way instead of putting more load on top of the bugs, they can spend time actually fixing the issues. I know it is hard because they get the initial bump in MTX purchases at the beginning of the league. However I have started to buy less and less, because of this. This league I am not buying any MTXs and I cannot do so in any future leagues, until I see them make a legitimate effort to fix it. If they don't they will lose too many people and will no longer be profitable.

Anyway, good luck. Maybe when 4.0 comes out, and if it isn't hot garbage, you can come back and give it a try!
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

that's actually a very good idea.

why don't private leagues offer that? or do they?

1.Never moaned about the "difficulty" of the game. Rather i said that it becomes so convoluted that it gets annoying.
I killed UberElder (just to see how easy it is) on a 4 link, with garbo weapons last league... the game ain't difficult. Annoying and difficult are 2 different things.

2.True, they have been doing meta-shifts for a long time, i guess it just seems more pronounced these latter leagues you know.

3.You base the amount that i have supported the game on my supporter packs? You do realize that you can buy raw points aswell right :p? Lol i don't care if i'm a big, medium or small loss to GGG. It's not about that, it's just some feedback from a quitting player.

4.It is indeed.

5.Yeah i watched that talk.

6.Well there's people with all kinds of software/hardware and it's common knowledge that regardless of your specs, performance, especially in partyplay has been an issue for a while now. Hence all the threads etc. Server stability was quite poor in Legion too and crashes/freezes related to the intervention stuff was a big thing.

7.There's a herd mentality indeed.

8.Yeah, it still sucks though.

9.How would you know what i sell or don't sell? Also the only reason we don't have an AH, is because TGGG wants to make as much currency as possible from selling premium tabs. You can try to rationalize it however you want, but the trade of PoE is fucked up already anyway. RMT, bots, flipping, private indexers etc. Get real mr.BIGTRADER lul

PS: You obviously missed the whole point of this thread. Trying to place yourself above me, by saying "have fun in less complicated games"... lol. This game isn't complicated at all. It's knowledge based, do your research and you'll be fine. I wonder how i popped 36 challs every league and have almost all achis done in PoE if i can't "handle the DIFFICULTY". Quite funny ;)

I think there is a serious catch 22 situation going on with the three month cycle unfortunately.

It's clearly not enough time for them to make a new league which is mostly polished and bug free, but by month 2 of a league most people have already quit. If you extend leagues out to 4 months then it's not really solving the issue, it's just extending the deadzone at the end of the league. (Even if the actual league experience feels smoother)

They could run mayhem / flashback for a month at the end of every league as a buffer, but I also see plenty of people go too hard on flashback then get burnt out for the next league as well. Not to mention if the league is a total flop then they don't have the safety option of running flashback in the 3rd month, they just have to grit their teeth and bear it.

Quite the odd situation PoE is in for sure.

If you're quitting the game, then quit and get off the forums... it's quite simple :D

You own this forum?

Quitting the game today doesn't mean that i can't continue to post a bit to the people that post to me here. Dunno why you're so angry about someone else quitting a game. I suggest some meditation ;p

Who said I'm angry? Actually I laugh at people like you who have to tell everyone why they're quitting a game.

Making a thread saying "I have nothing new to add, but give me attention" would have worked just as well. I've seen this exact post like half a dozen times now.

Welp if you've seen similar posts, then i guess it shows how people feel about the game. I don't care about "attention". I'm some random guy on the net for you and you are the same to me. This is just a bit of feedback from a quitting player, plain and simple ;)

Dude, you're posting online. Don't act like it isn't for attention. There's literally no other reason anybody could have to post things online.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

If "everyone" is always posting for attention in your opinion, then why is me posting for the same thing so special for you, that you have to point it out and try to berate me for it? Lol...

@Gluch - what you just wrote there shows that you're upset.

Dunno why you "laugh at people" who have played the game for a while and have decided to quit and give some feedback about it while doing so... weird tbh :p
