Quit PoE today

Hey.

So i'll start off saying that i have played with ons and offs since 2.2 (perandus), when i started playing the game in standard. Later on i moved to leagues and have done 36/40 or more in a bunch of them by now. I ain't here to hate on the game, because i obviously enjoyed it and had fun and put proper effort into it (and some currency)...but now i feel like it's time to quit. There are several main reasons for this and i will point them out in a simple list below. These are in no particular order.

1.Basically i don't quite like the direction the game's going. It seems that leagues have been getting more convoluted lately to the point where they actually become annoying. You need third party websites/tools to make sense of some of it etc. Gone is the simplicity of Breach and even though i played in standard at the time, i will say that it is the BEST league mechanic ever devised. It was FUN, it was OPTIONAL, and it was REWARDING. It also had an endgame component that was CHALLENGING. No charts, no alt-tabbing, no third party websites.
These later leagues like Shithesis for an example have been poorly communicated and obfuscated.

2.Forced meta-shifts (also tied to mtx sales). Basically GGG makes Cyclone OP af in Legion and a few weeks into the league, they are selling... guess what? A cyclone mtx... /sigh

3.Screen clutter. The amount of screen clutter has gotten absurd. I mean does this look normal to you lol?


4.Every league being a beta test for the first month of it's duration. It's obvious that the 3 month league cycle is too much for them to handle, as every bloody league comes out at a half finished state and is riddled with bugs, crashes, performance problems etc.

5.Performance. The main problem behind this is the fact that GGG didn't have the capital to purchase a commercial engine when they started making the game back in the day, so they made one themselves and i absolutely understand that. The issue is though, that they keep adding new buggy stuff on top of old buggy stuff that has never been fixed and along with crappy optimization, it just keeps adding up.
I mean 3 years ago PoE took like 2 gigs of RAM to run, these days it takes 8-10... How does an isometric view arpg with fairly simplistic gfx from 2011, quadruple it's RAM consumption within 3 years?
Party play is also, not just a visual clusterfuck, but a performance clusterfuck.

Noone is saying that PoE should run on high settings, with 60 fps on a mid tier pc from 2005 or something lol, but the performance of it today is just laughable.

6.Lack of actual build diversity. Yeah yeah, we all know that you can take most skills and clear the entirety (or most of it) of the game with them, but practically that's not how it goes. Last league, literally half the playerbase was playing 1 skill. It's also the case that faster clearspeed skills seem to be directly favoured by league mechanics these days. Everything has a timer etc.

I'm not saying i wanna hit mobs one at a time or something, but the amount of clearspeed has gotten ridiculous. Well it's been ridiculous for a few years already to be honest.

7.The adding of non-arpg mechanics into an arpg. I wanna kill mobs and get loot, not click on towers, catch beasts and read through a list of 2000 mods, to craft 1 little thing on 1 item.

8.Pantheon feels meaningless, the lab sucks and act content has been trivialized.

9.Chat moderation. Someone out of nowhere calls me a (insert vulgar word here) in g1 -> i call them a salty pleb back -> they report me for HATE SPEECH -> i get muted.

I contact support -> they remove the mute -> ok...

People have gotten too soft these days and i am not interested in self-censoring myself because someone might potentially get "offended" over a couple of words in a video game chat.

10.Still no auction house. Yeah gotta have that sweet "player interaction" that GGG keeps rambling about, when i copy/paste the same msg to 30 people, before i get a reply! Everyone with a brain knows that the only reason we don't have an AH, is so that they can sell premium tabs :p

11.The removal of LE TOUCAN... PRAISE111!!!111 <(*)

At the end of the day, i uninstalled the game today and even though i've had my fair share of fun with it, it's time to move on :p Maybe 4.0 will change many things, but i doubt it :p

You kinda forgot the total lack of communication from the team when it's needed.
They go days with no words from anyone to a chris post saying nothing.

I love this game, but I still agree with almost everything on here. (except the want of an AH. AH = game suicide) I hope 4.0 takes some radical steps to correct these.

Alot of reasonable and solid reasons.

Yo I hear you. I use be able play this game on laptop that wasn't even gaming one. But now I got i5 7500 1060 and 16gigs ram a 460gb ssd and its lag fest.

The no AH is pain in bum. I didn't play this league looks like crap.

I given up playing on steam.
I'm on firbe net in new Zealand the 900 down plan and on steam for little hot fix it takes like 40mins yet the ggg client is like 40 seconds.


Trading is pain it takes up time wouldn't it be nice to have AH I herd China has one. I hurt since that company in China that bought ggg that China has a AH.

I mean fuck it be nice log in there be some sales in a mailbox. Instead being online. I noticed there's alot price fixing you message like 30 people to buy something one reply and then it's like a low level toon that hasn't even done lab yet that's selling ex for chaos are they bloody bots?

Mayb take time away from no leagues for bit and fix game and improve it.

Also I knw ggg needs make money but why buff cyclone so big then bring out to mtx in 3 month league then nerd it.

Also I herd if you did in hard core in China you use some ggg coins to bring it back to life isn't that cheating

Another thing log out Marco in hardcore that's so cheating. Your not so hardcore if you use it.

Agreed. I'll never understand why some people have this incessant need to tell others they are quitting.
When I quit a game, I quit. Nobody cares why, nobody ever will care.

tl;dr Narcissism

Making a thread saying "I have nothing new to add, but give me attention" would have worked just as well. I've seen this exact post like half a dozen times now.

This is a pretty accurate description of what this game has become, which is unfortunate.
