Am I missing something here? Surely the process is:
Trade the mirror for something of equal value (the collateral), so that the person who has the item to be mirrored has the mirror. Mirror the item Trade the mirrored item back for the collateral + the fee. Or are people with mirrorable items not sufficiently rich to have the value of a mirror? |

The solution is to only use mirror services where the provider has a mirror ready to use. Then you just trade your mirror for the mirrored item. Although I suspect that someone with an item worth mirroring wouldn't be so foolish as to destroy his reputation (he could transfer the item to another account but his item would be blacklisted), and lose all the profit from future mirroring. Although, there are some pretty stupid people out there...

I think ben_sphynx is right that it would be fitting to ask for some deposit for your mirror, slightly less than it is worth. The question then is, as he points out, will people have enough currency stashed to do that? Remember, good rolls comes to all groups that get drops.
