What re your thoughts on duel weilding wands with the usual fire damage/spell damage modifiers?

The iclemine build thread in this forum suggests they have a much higher DPS than using a 2H staff, but I wondered what peoples thoughts are for Pyro?
It's also viable, yes. It's just that having a staff allow you to wear something like a Kaom's Heart if you can afford it/get one and since we don't need much stuff aside from our 6l for our mines, it's a good opportunity.
Beat uber elder. Sire of Shards was a nice way to level up and get a feel for the build

After killing literally everything with my 1st Golemancer on boring sc it is time. Thanks for the guide.

Hi, hope someone can help me. I was following a YT build of Pyroclast mine that uses crit too (don't know if I can post the video here). But at lvl 77, what I don't like is the survivality. I died instantly with a tier 11 corrupted map boss (I loss all portals, didn't have any chance). My gear is fine, all resist cap, high hp on gear (but still low I think on my character, 4k hp + 500 ES, that can be the problem and the build have a total of 5k HP + 500 ES).
So I will try to change the skill tree a little to what you choose. What I see can benefit me, is the reg. mana and some more hp than my actual skill tree (anyway is very similar), so I can drop the gem Clarity and use Herald of Ash (mana reg. for damage).

I need help with what skill gems or support gems can I use in my gear. For example:

In boots the guy uses Orb of Storm + Arcane Surge lv6 + Inc. Duration + Culling Strike. Is good and all but I have problems casting it and casting scorching ray + spell totem + multiple totems (main 3-link hand), specially when the boss moves quickly. So I think to quit Orb of Storm, inc. duration and culling strike to use Flame Dash + Arcane Surge lv6, so I'll cast Arc. Surge with my movement skill. What more can I add?

In gloves the guy uses Skitterbots + Clarity + Flame Dash + Enlighten. So I move Flame Dash to boots to cast Arcane Surge and quit Clarity and try to see how to cover the mana reg. (with the skill tree will be fine I think). I add Herald of Ash and the 4-link will be: Skitterbots + Herald of Ash + ??? + Enlighten. What another thing can be?

The helmet have Inc. duration + Vaal grace + CWDT 11 + Steelskin 16, but I think is better to use CWDT 14 + Steelskin 18 + Enfeeble 17 + Summon Stone Golem 16 and move Vaal Grace to 3-link Off hand (so I change vaal grace for stone golem). The 3-link off hand uses Vaal Grace + Vaal Righteous Fire + Increased Duration.

So this changes how they are? Are fine? If I don't say it correctly and is a bit confusing, my problem to resolve is (if all my changes can be considered good):
- Gems for Boots (Flame Dash + Arcane Surge lv 6 + ??? + ???)
- Gems for Gloves (Skitterbots + Herald of Ash + ??? + Enlighten)

Thanks any response.

Hi,

Of course you can post links here, why would you not?
As a first answer to your questions, i think the best one is for your to enjoy how the build is played. In the OP, i put several utility skill gems you can use. Overall we don't need a lot of gems so you'll have free sockets unless you have a Kaom's Heart. The changes you wanted to make seems fine yes.
Something i'd not like in the build and that i find totally unnecessary is the scorching ray totem. A Decoy Totem instead and especially on bosses would greatly increase your survivability too.

Now, you said you were lvl 77. Just fyi, at this level you probably want to just farm low tier maps. You only have 9.5% xp penalty on T1 at this level. What map/boss was that T11 and do you remember the mods / any screenshot?
The 4th ascendancy node helps a lot with survivability also with the blind which i assume you don't have yet at this level.
But yeah, imo really, especially if you've the feeling you're a bit too squishy, slow down a bit your map progression (just do the highest tier map you got at least once ofc) and start doing T11 after a few levels (= more hp), at lvl 84/85.

Hi, thanks for answer! I like more how do you manage the build tree than the other I use previously. Anyway here is a pastebin of the other build if want check what is different (but is very similar): https://pastebin.com/EPyxmC3Q

Now with the changes and using Kaom's Heart instead of Carcass Jack, I can live more without been one-shotted (at the moment atleast) in maps t11-13. And unfortunately I don't remember what stats have that map, I forgot check that.

I read that Scorching Ray have a debuff that disables the fire resistance (or something like that) of the enemy, so will be more easy kill a boss. But if the damage is enough to kill all bosses without use it, then I'll switch off. Anyway, with what use Decoy Totem? Or what is the purpose of that Totem? And for the weapon, I buy a 6-link Martyr of Innocence, with some t10-13 bosses it took a little more time than I expect, so I think need more damage, what can I improve to have more damage? Just keep leveling to have more points for the tree and have more dmg, or just change my weapon? I don't know if you can see my profile to check my character and see what can improve in my gear. I still have 2 exalted to spend (not playing ssf).

And yes, I still need to do what calls uber lab, maybe that's the difference. I was thinking if go for Pyromaniac or Born in the Shadows (I choose atm Bomb specialist, Demolitions Specialist and Explosives Expert). I would like these 2, but for that I'll need to drop Explosives Expert, and maybe that will be better for the survivality part, but for the dmg part? I still need to improve my dmg to be more lethaly.

This is my 3rd. character and I trying recently to learn all the mechanics of this game, so maybe I'm confusing something. When you have time, if can explain me what decisions will be more logic, I'll appreciate.

What are the skill tree priorities? Like for example level 37 tree, level 60 tree, etc..
I am thinking of using ignite prolif with pyroclast while dropping the Immolate for Blighted maps. Any thoughts ?

I said i didn't like the scorching ray totem because it adds something to care about in the build, and more importantly, it feels unnecessary. By that i mean our damages are already high enough for us to don't even bother with such a thing. While, as you asked, a Decoy totem will give us some survivability. What the totem does? It taunts nearby enemies, which mean bosses will attack the totem instead of you, and in case they attack you while they're taunted, they'll do 10% less damages.

Back to your damages, Martyr of Innocence is great, you shouldn't have any issue with your damages. Checking in PoB it seemed fine. If you can record a map clear or even just the boss to see exactly how it is that slow, it could help. But just in case, here's normally what you want to do : throw 19 (max) mines at the feet of the boss, move to start the fight and start detonating the mines. While the detonation, keep throwing as much mines as you can to extend the detonation sequence (prioritize dodging still if needed).

You'll want to drop Explosives Expert indeed. Pyromaniac is still a must have imo, and the only choice remaining is between Born in the Shadows or Explosives Expert, but our damages are supposed to be good, we want survivability more than anything else as a priority.

I don't have much to tell you there, just have fun, ask away / seek answers when you're wondering about something and everything will come with time :p.

That's a question for you, what do you need right now during your leveling? Too squishy? Go for more life nodes / defensive nodes. Damages are too low? Take some more (though the most important part is to get a 3l then 4l). The fact the build is a crit one helps a lot. You won't take much crit nodes early on. But yh it's your role to adapt with what you need.

If you want to use ignite, you need to build entirely around it i think, so this change would definitely not be worth it.
Maybe a stupid question. Since this is a crit-based build. Swift assembly vs Increased critical strike chance. What do you think, guys?
