WoW Classic is a threat to our community?
The people obsessed enough to play WoW Classic long-term were already playing WoW Classic on private servers, *not* PoE.
We have nothing to worry about. Honestly, unless Blizzard gets its shit together and makes an actually-amazing Diablo 4 (which I have no faith in, D3 sucks ass both before and after RoS), PoE is in the clear for now. |

@OP: WOW classic was unbelievable good back in the days and of course I will give it another shot but there is one big problem.... time. If someone thinks that poe is time consuming then he should stay away from classic WOW for sure. Classic WOW is the very definition of time consuming. 40 man raids are fun but gathering 40 good players ever evening for years and farming pots and other things for those raids on a daily basis too is not possible if you have a job or children. I once was a nolifer running for world first kills but would I ever do this madness again? Am I willing to loose another few years? Could I even affort this madness again? The answer of course is no but leveling to 60 once again with an undead rogue and grinding hate and tears in Alterac Valley? Hell yeah. But another big NO is that they decided that there will be no german servers so it's just leveling a toon up to 60, skip 3.8 and be back when 3.9 is here. I'm pretty sure that WOW classic is NOT a threat to this game in any form.
German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!

" Not classic You described PoE in near future however. Because it will end the same as Wow did. By casualizing everything so much. |

" Who cares. People play more than one game. Myself I can't stand WoW. I'll play POE and any other game I feel like playing just like every other person on this planet. POE won't suffer at all. |

" I agree. The biggest problem with WoW classic is that there are so many Quality of life features missing, it will likely frustrate a lot of people who are returning to it through rose-tinted spectacles. Omission of such basic QoL features (an automated trade system, for example) is paramount in growing your player-base and keeping them. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

" Not really. You can take WoW as far as you like. For example, many players will play casual and never see a raid. Upper Blackrock Spire will be their limit and that's fine. So it's pretty good for carebears in that regard. And remember, even being a carebear player in WoW vanilla demands a much higher skill threshold than PoE does, so.... Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

There really is no comparison between any version of WoW, new or old, with POE. And to be quite truthful I hope to God POE never goes to cartoon land and loses it's darkness I have come to love...

People have serious rose coloured glasses regarding WoW classic. Tons of people are going to try it, then bail when they remember killing endless boars in Elwynn Forest.

" It wasn't really a comparison more like will it effect us POE Players? Will we see a large decline at the start of the league because people are still playing WoW classic instead of starting with the new league? WoW classic, with the state that it is, is unlike any game out right now. The players that are looking forward to it, are people who play all types of games, that includes POE. " This... this is how it will go which is why blizz has held back so much in just putting 40 servers out, they are banking on the fact that it dies down in 1 month, 3 months. " This while untrue, is still pretty funny lol. |
