WoW Classic is a threat to our community?

I played the entirety of Vanilla WoW, from 2004 until BC launched. I loved it, did everything in the game. I am definitely going to play WoW Classic as well, but only up until Blight and then again after I am bored of Blight. I know some of my friends are going to do the same. I don't think WoW classic is a threat to PoE at all.
wow is a lame ass game besides if people want to play that instead of this i don't really care i would still enjoy playing poe xD
3.26 when?
Don't abandon us. don't turn your backs on the ones loving poe.
this topic wins for "Most Pointless Click-Bait Question" of the year.

Who cares? What threat? If people want to play game X, Y, or Z - their choice. Why does this matter?

I see a lot of people who don't really understand why Classic WoW will 100% succeed and 100% will not be a threat post 3.8.

"GRIND"

There's also tons of grinding here. Difference is in Classic WoW there will be permanence, as in that which you have grinded will always be with you, in contrast to the league ending and all of your progress being wiped and going to a place that's currently been designed to have the player relatively ignore.

"DEAD IN 3 MONTHS"

I'd have to say that's what being conditioned to PoE leagues will do to you. I've been on multiple private servers and there was activity no matter how long ago it was, or how progressed. Will concurrent users drop after people hit level cap? Yes, but 9/10 those same people will remain active players as they log in for raid days 1-3 times a week, more if they need to gather some sort of materials. This doesn't even consider alts, PvP which is huge in classic and a huge grind, or just chatting with people.

"
"NOSTALGIA"

People said the same things about private servers, but you don't truly understand what they're nostalgic about or why people want classic.

They're mostly nostalgic about the sense of community that's there. Most everything of importance cannot be done alone in classic and so there's a large sense of camaraderie. There's also the fact that it's a persistent world, so you're going to recognize and remember certain people. Again, drawing into a sense of community.

Raiding and getting good gear made you somewhat a celebrity at times as whoever was most progressed tended to be envied by people who weren't.

For the people that have never played before WoW's later expansions, there's a huge sense of exploration as they can see what was there before the huge landscape changes of Cataclysm.

There's also an element of danger on PvP servers, an unspoken tension that no matter where you are at any time, somebody on the other faction can attack you and it makes for an exciting, random element. I still remember when I first ganked somebody way back in 2005, I had such an adrenaline rush.

It was very exciting to play.

These reasons are why it won't fail.

It's not a threat PoE after 3.8

However, I'm saying it's not going to be a threat to PoE because of it's exact structure. As most of the hardcore raiders hit level cap, and acquire all the materials they need, they tend to raidlog, that is remain offline until the guild is about to tackle content that needs more than 5 people.

There's tedium to WoW just as there is to PoE, and sometimes people need a break from that tedium.

Also included are sources of multiple frustrations, like constantly getting ganked and an enemy camping your resurrection point, or alternatively just non-mutually desired PvP. If you don't have a guild or group available to get revenge, you're better off logging out.

That being said, 3.8 is going to be hit hard for the first 1.5-2months of league because it's so close to WoW release and closest to the entire material acquisition phase that's been seen at the start of previous private servers. 3.9+ should stabilize in terms of player count after this all goes down and players fall into routine raidlogging.

I myself will probably also be joining classic because I have friends+community from private servers that are going to be playing and it's fun to play with friends. After all the gold and consumables are gathered to a nice stockpile, will return to PoE.

Former blizzard fanboy here.

There is 0% chance I will ever play another blizzard game, not even WoW classic. They brushed their loyal fans to the side and slapped us all in the face.
I think the old school WOW people (I'm not one) will play it for awhile, for nostalgia, then GTFO and play whatever.
Censored.
Thats like saying any new game will damage our community. Popycock.

Isn't WoW garbage for carebears?

Not HC enough for you eh?
~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.
Never played WoW and never will. Don't like cartoon network graphics. They are for children. Besides, I promised myself to not buy anything from blizzard again unless they start to care about their customers.

the only thing that can kill poe is poe dev's.

just like WoW classic a 15 year old product is more important than their 2019 retail game.. that's how you kill your new game, when the old gets relevancy higher than your "new" product.

tencentggg should take notes to avoid such mistakes, TD league isnt something that indicate me they are taking notes.. but sure they are still mocking activision-blizzard and testing everything they can
"Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."

Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words.

poe0.2/10. Nuff said.
