The arguement against auto trading is what, exactly?...

D3's AH was a disaster that wrecked the games economy and loot progression. I don't know why some people are so set on GGG repeating that mistake.
Anything that increases the ease at which you obtain loot lowers it's value so I can fully understand why they are reluctant to make any changes to trading, even if it can be frustrating at times. Last edited by kitano#6696 on Jun 29, 2019, 11:21:15 AM

" Diablos 3 trade market was for real life money, noone is asking for that |
|
|
The real money part is irrelevant, it was the ease at finding gear that caused issues. Trading with only in-game currency you could buy bis gear for practically nothing, the market was flooded with it.

" This of course implies that what we have right now is "fun". I have in my seven years playing this game had fun, maybe once, trading. It was when someone filled his trading window with an assortment of completely random things, calling it a "bonus". I was completely taken by surprise and had a bit of a laugh. That's it. Every other trade is the same thing; search poe.trade (or your trading advent of choice) copy a text, press enter on keyboard in-game, do ctrl-v, wait, wait, wait, repeat a few times if no response, click visit hideout, wait, move your own trading goods into a UI-window, wait, inspect trading goods on the other side, click 'accept', wait, click 'waypoint' and go back to your hideout and finish this lovely interaction with another player people say would completely destroy the game if it would disappear, by typing in 'TY' in the chat window. " This is already happening with perhaps the only difference being that with an 'auction house' making it easier for 'noobs' to turn full-time sniper since the transaction doesn't rely on two parties, and most people getting two dozen trade requests the second after they put their Tabula Rasa up for 8C and go; "hang on...". " The only "challenge" here is the trade-meta which for obvious reasons new players don't have access to. Setting up fixed poe.trade searches that notify you the second they're posted and sniping them isn't a challenge. Well, except maybe among like-minded 'players'. There's a reason the sape players end up with hundreds if not thousands of Exalts just weeks into every new league. " They're scared shitless it turning into Diablo 3, but no-one using the D3-argument seems to understand why it was so bad for Diablo 3 and why it wouldn't for Path of Exile. " Really? Are you aware some people paid thousands of dollars for the real bis gear? There are articles about it, finding and buying gear in D3 with AH was easy but it didn't guarantee you the best bis drops in the game. |

They don't need to make an argument.
They don't want it, end of story, their game, their implementation, don't like it? go play elsewhere because if 7+ years of asking, begging, whining and reeeee'ing did not work then another 7 isn't going to make a difference. " And that wasn't because of the 'ease of trade', but because the ENTIRE game was designed with, not only an auction house in mind but one that you could use real money as the primary method of gear acquisition. Path of Exile just doesn't have anything near this mechanic! " I don't know why people constantly bring up Diablo 3 since Blizzard's experimental failure is not in any way, shape or form what people are saying this game needs. " I don't know if you're aware, but this game has about 1000 Unique items. Playing this game in any meaningful way, unless you play SSF, requires you to trade. And I have had ZERO problem finding my critical items for my builds in this League. In fact, I didn't when the trade API and poe.trade were years in the future. " Well, not via the built-in real money auction house. It was capped at 200 US buckaroos, and outside of the auction house, real money transfers were just as illegal in Diablo 3 back then as it is in Path of Exile today. But, yeah, I remember that Echoing Fury going for $7000 US. Going outside is highly overrated -Anorak's Almanac. Chapter 17, Verse 32 Last edited by Vresiberba#5216 on Jun 29, 2019, 12:09:05 PM

Some items, the real bis ones, were worth way more than 250 dollars. Which was the whole point, in fact the biggest argument against AH was that it artificially reduces the drop of good items. Which already exists in PoE. The only reason SSF is even a thing is thanks to builds which don't require good gear, crafting and div cards.

" I'm not disagreeing, only pointing out that the real money auction house limit of items in Diablo 3 was $200. There was no way of circumventing this limit short of violating the Terms of Use. Just like you'd have to if you want to buy items in Path of Exile for real money. Going outside is highly overrated -Anorak's Almanac.
