EXP LOSS POLL
" That's caused by loot, not xp |

" Since the punishment for dieing is so severe it's simply not effective to tackle top-tier content permanently. Not without reason racers stay at T12-13 to achieve lvl 100 rather then moving towards T16. So yes, it's also about XP, loot plays a role too though, both are relevant in this case. GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings.
Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease. Everything fixed but still broken. |

Death penalty is alright in games, but POE does it poorly.
There is simple reason behind it, and it all focus on one rule - risk versus reward. POE doesnt reward you for taking bigger risk, it only punishes you for dying for...actually nothing. No matter what risk you take, drop rates are similar everywhere. You dont see visible boost in drops, exp, quantity or rarity that would make you feel rewarded in POE for taking the risk. Delve have the best drop rates, but from my expriance they have really low risk faactor in them. Wheres the logic in that? That is why (pointed out many times in this thread) many people grind easier content to get to high lvl. In this deparment Warhammer 40k Inqusitor Martyr does it much better. I can boost my risk whenever I want for free (dont need to drop stupid maps or sextants to do so, it is my choice at any time), even to radicolous variants like -70% dmg taken for mobs and +300% dmg taken by you. When you take such big risk you die plenty of times, but you got only 3 lifes per mission (or 5 in totall per whole attlas of theirs). And it is normal to die there, and you dont have exp penalty by doing so, you only lose progress on atlas if you try to zerg it. It is normal for any game to die, because as a gamer you should challange yourself to test your limit. Additionally comparing to POE, their reward is like 200% more EXP ratio and 200% more items with focused drops (you can control what sort of items you want to drop more often). Comparing to that, POE system is like super laziness in design, which works totally in reverse as it should - it punish you for testing your limits. " Why should failure be fun? What part of seeing a relatively useless number go up could be fun? Learning from the failure is where the fun starts. |

I would be fine with death penalties if all deaths were fair.
I can't even count the amount of XP I wasted because of lag spikes, disconnects/crashes, poor design or offscreen one shot crits through 7k hp, fortify and flasks. I would have loved to play HC, but i'll never ever touch it in this game, because it has so much technical and design issues that can cause death. |

" fact: it doesn't need to be reworked. if you hate dying this much, perhaps it's time to finally actually use defenses for once* and actually try not to die. *references previous threads/posts and his characters that were devoid of all defenses. [Removed by Support]
