Why do people play leagues over standard?
|
Leagues keep things "fresh". Well at least for the first week or so.
Standard is now a viable option as it is an amalgamation of all previous leagues into core content. This gets increasingly more when new leagues and older leagues get merged. I personally have a full time job and a young family, the days of gaming in a fixed 3 month window is quite simply over for me. Some people do manage this, its just not an option for myself. The issue in the last few leagues is the complexity. Bestiary, Betrayal and Synthesis are all difficult to understand for the casual gamer. Even experienced gamers need to have a spreadsheet to do some of the content. These leagues when merged tends to be simplified which is good for simple people like myself. |

" Yeah all this nonsense talk about "fresh" etc etc Yet all the leagues merge into standard every 3 months, there is really no real reason to play leagues. Why would you play a league only to use a really boring looking budget build? Standard offers the same thing but allows you to make expensive builds instead, much more worth it. " I haven't read the rest of the thread, but we can definitely agree here. Lots of Youtubers talk about how they only put like 2 hours a day into it. The key is less about how much you play and more about how efficiently you do. And if you can do both to a high level? There's nothing you can't achieve in this game. Edit: If you "have a life," so you don't play weekends and only play 2hr/day, that means you can play 10/wk, so 40/mo... ~120/league. That's more than enough time to level a character, gear them out, and do 12 or 24 challenges (depending on your goals). Tired of trolls? " It is all about what are the player's goals in the game. Playing for fun, solo or with friends, doing 90% of endgame content and trying out new stuff /memories and nexus in this league/ on a budget and not that efficient and for 1-2 hours a day or at weekends only is easy. I do that every league, its my own goal to play this way, cuz i do not agree with some things ggg made/make but i like the game enough to keep playing it until they ruin it too much for me. I started to play in leagues after i saw that league mechanics are a lot more fun and free than when they are added to the core game and ofc - a clean stash. Leveling new char or two every 3 months isnt that bad as it may sounds /coming from me, a lazy guy/. On top of all that we have rewards per challenges done and if they are not trash tier, its another cool reason to play in leagues. Slow down for a minute to enjoy the beauty around us.

" The problem is that currently levelling character every 3 months is actually "that bad" because they completely screwed up "masters" and "mastercrafting". As a result, the entire crafting system is completely RNG based, whereby the RNG must first allow player to "find" the appropriate recipe, and later, as the player will finally find it, ant then RNG must "allow" to achieve the appropriate tier crafting. At the same time all valuable crafts require exalted orbs. Such a system may have been attractive when it was introduced for the first time, but repeating this from scratch every three months is terribly annoying. For example, combining the Synthesis league with the need to rediscover all "crafting recipes" has resulted in a total discouragement of the game, including Standard, where every three months I would have to "discover" whole atlas anyway. But if Wilson says to play this game "forever", my answer is - play it yourself. I will wait until he fixes it and makes it fun again. In the meantime, I will play something that is a game and does not resemble a regular job after job. You have been placed on probation for: ● Make hateful or needlessly negative comments ● Personally attack or cause harm to the reputation of others ● Antagonise others in an obnoxious manner ●

I agree with you about the horrible implementation of crafting, but that doesn't make leveling new characters each league "horrible" or anything. It makes grinding your crafts horrible. Please don't conflate the two.

" yeah, im actually starting to have fun in the flashback stuff now that i hit maps and i just realize how much crafting is now gated behind other shit and its terrible to unlock. i have an open prefix on my belt but i can only craft life, which it already has, and ele dmg which i don't use. that is literally it. i need to find the other crafts, most useful ones behind betrayal which occur less frequently and we get less xp per unlock thing so it'll take ages. kinda blows |

GGG have acknowledged this about the Betrayal crafting, so we'll just have to wait and see if/what they do about it in 3.7.

" they should leave at least the rank1 recipes after the reset, its super annoying to farm recipes because most of them are complitly random. at least the rank1 should stay perma after we discover it. |
|
" So players that played the last league will have an advantage over new players in the next league? I disagree. Achievements in an old league should never give you benefits over other players in the next league. That is a horrible solution. That said, I agree that there are tonnes of things they could do to make crafting/"leveling" masters a more enjoyable journey. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
