Why do people play leagues over standard?
I play both and enjoy standard. I just started selling stuff in the flashback event and frankly selling sucks but then again I don't see the point in trying to gather as much currency as possible in league just to lose it in a short time anyway. I'm not going to make 20 exalts to make a super min/max, meta build in league the way I play but I don't care. For me the "fresh economy" is just hype.
I can see when I get bored of trying new skills and builds I'll likely be done with the game. |

Nothing wrong in playing Standard if you got limited time.
All the latest stuff regarding Leagues and Flashbacks get uploaded anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBlEgrzI91A Amazing how some can level up so many lvl 90+ chars in such a short timeframe. Heart of Purity

I've been playing leagues for the last couple years, but with the increasingly large amount of content getting piled into the game, the requirements to get "back up to speed" take longer and longer each league.
Between unlocking master mods, finding elusive delve mods, pushing delve back to ilvl 83, fleshing out the atlas i barely have any time to interact with the new league content, which is seemingly aimed at people who play 10 hours a day now. I play a slower build and can't realistically even get my gear back up to par in the span of a league, so its back to standard. |

I sat out Bestiary and didn't regret it. Playing in standard was different. If the next league is wonky, I might give it a try. Cleaning up the stash is a huge job though.

" this is basically it. i played standard for years because i used to think the same thing. working full time and having a family i'll never get anything done! except it was the opposite. because i have everything i want in standard i had no goals and i'd just get bored after playing a couple maps and never played the game. playing leagues with a fresh economy gives you something to work for. goals to accomplish. it gives you a reason to play. having a reason to play the only thing that keeps me playing. if theres no reason to play, why would i? and thats how i feel anytime i step in standard league. people play for different reasons though. this clearly won't resonate with everyone. |

The point of leagues is to fill-up four stash tabs with currency and things which you can then import into Standard as additional tabs. That allows you to get incredibly rich in Standard. It also means there are two levels of progress happening at any one time.
League is just a 3-month grind for bits you need to progress your Standard character, and since you can play league as a different build it meams you also get a substantial break from playing your Standard character. In my case I'm more likely to finish the Atlas and get all the PS4 trophies in Standard even though I barely play it because by the time I return to Standard a lot of things will have built-up so a quick burst of forward progress can be made. Your Atlas only "kimd of" resets: you can recover your progress simply by running corrupted versions of maps of the highest tier you've been able to reach, and doing so will complete all maps of previous tiers (and their bonus objectives) that you previously completed. Unique maps are left untouched by the reset so you never lose those anyway. What it meams is I"ve no real motivation to go beyond white maps during the leagues, which means I don't need more than a single half-tab of maps at any one time. I also keep mules of currency during league, and just before a league ends I put as much of that muled currency into any empty stash spaces I have left so that as much as possible migrates to Standard in remove-only tabs. |

I will never ever understand how anybody who works for a living can ever be able to play leagues.
I totally get if you live off your parents and can sit at home and play games all day tho. In standard you can atleast try out new cool builds and have fun with a lot of effort Look how Awesome my MTX Marauder RF looks

" that's the one good thing about console, the trade market makes it real easy to trade. Back in the day when I played on PC years ago, you had to invite someone and meet in your hideout to make every little trade. Now on console I run some maps and go to town and check offers. Usually I have several and make the transactions right there. |

" it isn't difficult to understand. you can play a cpl/few hrs a day and maybe more on certain days, probably less on others. what i do is sacrifice other things to get some gaming time, if the league is worth it (synthesis was not). my daughter goes to bed at 9 so thats when my prime gaming starts. on days my wife doesn't work i can sometimes start earlier, but usually only days i don't work. so if i want to accomplish something i'll usually push my bed time for it and sacrifice sleep. sometimes i don't play at all though and i'll just watch youtube videos from channels i like, but during prime league time and fun, again if its worth playing, i basically don't watch any youtube i can't just listen to because it cuts into my gaming time. you also can't really read the forums much and spend so much time browsing around. you also can't just afk and blah blah. in harbinger league i was able to get 40/40 and on leagues that are worth the grind i can get 36, like delve league, because that portal is crazy awesome.
