Standard is where all my toys are. I don't trade as such; that's not what I play PoE for, nor for the whole "new economy" thing.
That said, if a league intrigues me (I haven't really played in a league since Legacy), I'll dip into it for the giggles and the novel play experience. Then at the end, I'll fold my characters into my Standard roster, laboriously integrate the remove only tabs, and... Prolly play more Standard with what got brought over, unless the next "hot new thing" interests me. The clear-speed meta doesn't interest me, nor does shuffling a roster of NPCs (some of whom used to be friends and mentors) around on a tote-board of villains. I might've enjoyed Delve, but I was on a serious hiatus at the time, and my wife and I discovered that the integrated version of Delve is NOT party-friendly, so... I used to love racing, when that meant a season of one-off races to accumulate points toward some awesome prizes; now, "race" means a multi-week marathon which increases the differentiation between pros and casuals like me, and prizes I'll never have the chops to win. So, it's Standard for me most of the time, except for a brief foray into something like the current Flashback event. And that's fine, so long as disruptive league elements aren't incorporated into Standard. Because wanting stuff is a lot more fun than having stuff.

challenge totem poles, they grant me bragging rights in my hideout.
i always watched to not have them get too high, otherwise people might think i'm permanently unemployed or a youngster playing in mums basement. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Leagues is dogshit and I only play them to rip gear from hc to std.
Fresh economy is also a joke, 1 month into the league and an ex is worth 170 chaos, more than in std. Yea game is fresh when you play Day 1, not sleep for the next 4 days and sell maps to scrubs to bank and fund your character that will be put in trash once you quit after a month . League concept is a scam loved by streamers just because of the ladder race. Poe Pvp experience https://youtu.be/Z6eg3aB_V1g?t=302 Last edited by Head_Less#6633 on May 18, 2019, 12:18:54 PM

The biggest single reason I don't play much Standard is because my stash is a huge mess. That's not the only reason, but it seems like every time I decide to play Standard for a while, I get totally frustrated dealing with the stash.
Also, this idea of having to play four hours a day is hogwash. In a new league, I think the farthest I've ever gotten on the first day is very early Act 3. Usually I only get to Act 2, and maybe not even that far. In a new league, by the time I get to the Ledge I've probably already taken a break. I played a lot more when I started playing, but now if I play three maps in day, that's well above average. I get tired of characters long before I get to yellow maps. Grinding maps is boring af. Don't assume everyone plays the same way. As for Standard, I like playing some of my old characters. I like having a lot of gear in my stash to choose from. It's just frustrating trying to find it, and even more frustrating trying to find room to put a good drop if I get one. |

" ![]() So around 6 hours a day - minus inactive/idling time - for 2-3 weeks. Should be far less "pr day" for the whole league than 4. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" All right, everything is clear. 2-3 weeks semi no-lifing, later a bit less, as the league is already bored. Thank you very much for the lesson for new players :) Oh, and winter orb, of course :) You have been placed on probation for: ● Make hateful or needlessly negative comments ● Personally attack or cause harm to the reputation of others ● Antagonise others in an obnoxious manner ● Last edited by srogi_kotek#5493 on May 18, 2019, 12:59:17 PM

Played leagues for almost 2 years. Last few months I played Standard only. I can say: You don't miss anything at all, playing Standard.
Yes, the economy in a League is fresh. You can sell some semi-decent stuff... in the first 2 weeks. After that is pretty much the same as Standard. So, you're right: only the people playing at least 3-4 hours a day profit from this situation. For any "real" casual player, Standard is the much better option. Most of the new mechanics - at least the good ones - will end up in Standard eventually. |

" Winter Orb? Oh, you're looking at my character, where I use Winter Orb only to stack charges before a boss fight? My character this league is a Freezing Pulse character. You CHOSE to ignore that to fit your narrative. If you play healthy 2 hours a day throughout the league, you can do twice/three times as much as I did. Just stop your whining. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
